Unlike many of ya’ll I never played Pokemon or opened packs when I was younger. I recently caught this disease at an advanced age. Lately I had the itching to buy a WOTC 1st edition pack and open it. My worry is the more I research buying packs, the less confident I am that unweighed is actually unweighed. Is there such a thing as a trusted pack source or is it pretty much all heavy/light now?
The charizard authority is one of the best sources. DACardworld, Vintagemagic, and CollectorsCache are the bigger stores that come to mind. ZandG emporium is a reliable and trusty source. I’ve also purchased boosters and boxes from those sources. If you want packs that are 100% guaranteed then you can have your packs opened live on Youtube with PokeRev. Pretty entertaining. At the moment I know of one person that has done a box break on IG. Mrandmrsmint9. They opened a 1st edition neo discovery box and I purchased packs from them. I got a fair amount of holos from my 1st edition jungle opening.
The only other person I can vouch for is Thecardshop101 on Ebay. I got a Holo from their packs, but they make sure you get 1 holo per 3 packs. Unless you buy in 3s I wouldn’t purchase from them.

I recently had a great experience buying WOTC packs from oracleman55 on eBay. Bought 5 box-fresh packs. 3 contained holos.
Generally speaking, I’d stick to sellers with high feedback selling packs that are advertised as box-fresh. Loose packs are a gamble.
