WoTC Packs from Troll and Toad - Weighed or not?

I’m considering buying some of these older packs from TaT because pretty much 100% of the ebay listings have at least $16 shipping on a single pack (probably due to the GSP). I doubt they weigh packs and cheat their customers, but what would stop people from selling their own weighed packs to TaT?

For a big box stores like That it’s not worth it to go through that extra effort and weigh packs. This doesn’t discount it being weighed before hand

It depends: If you dont intend to open them then it doesnt matter if they are weighed or not.

I’m pretty sure they buylist packs, so the risk is definitely there.

All are weighed since you said older packs.
Save up for boxes and forget packs;)

By the time you save up that 2k they’ll be worth 3

Personal experience: last August I purchased one booster pack each of 1st Neo Genesis, 1st Gym Heroes, and Platinum (not WotC but still older). From these packs I got 2/3 holos (Dialga G Lv. X from Platinum and Skarmory from Neo Gen 1st, which is now a PSA 10). Will you get this lucky? Probably not because of the previously mentioned method of their acquisition of packs: buylists. You don’t know the original owner of the packs; Troll and Toad are certainly not popping old boxes to sell the packs.

It’s best to go by the assumption that all loose packs have been weighed unless you have proof otherwise. I know large ‘reputable’ retailers have searched old MTG packs, it wouldn’t surprise me to hear old pokemon packs get weighed as well. You can’t just assume because it’s a large store that they’re honest when money is involved, especially when it’s potentially thousands of dollars.

What reputable sellers have searched old MTG packs?

Just dont ooen them. The value is not going to decrease then.

Don’t want to throw the store under the bus because I doubt it’s their policy (at least not that I know of) to search packs, but I do know for a fact employees have searched packs because I was there when they were discussing it. This goes back to my point though, it doesn’t matter if a store is reputable, honest, or you think it’s not worth their time to search or weigh packs etc … it doesn’t mean their employees are above it - a lot of these employees aren’t earning a lot for doing their job either so the temptation is most definitely there. Which is why you should always assume packs are searched and weighed even from dealers that say they aren’t if they’re not from a sealed box.

Thanks guys. I was planning on opening them. I understand it’s not worth opening them, but I’m on a nostalgic pack kick right now and wanted to try some English ones. I guess I’ll stick to the Japanese ones that guarantee a holo.
