If you have the option to get both, get the more expensive one first. If you could only get one, I am a bit biased but I think most would agree that Unikarp is a more infamous card with more interesting history and part of one of the most ambitous Pokemon events ever known.

Both capture a moment in time when Pokemon was so young and pure. The release of those cards would likely be completely different or near impossible if attempted today. That is partly why they are so special to me.
Both are some of my favorite cards ever, but the vibes of Tropical Wind are simply unmatched.

I think now is a great time to pick these up. I personally decided that I dont mind having a super low grade version as its quite the historic piece and less of a burden on my bank account! I picked up the unikarp first then the tropical wind.

Congrats! Iām in the same mindset as you. I would gladly pick up low graded copies of each any day!
The thing Iām seeing a lot now is people who bought in 2020-2021 hoping to sell at as close as they can to their purchasing price. Making it really hard to actually find a decent deal.

Ah ya, Iāve been seeing a lot of that recently. If you go to any trade shows to collect a cons thereās often some that would do partial trades. I did a partial trade for my Tropical Wind and the vendor said itās easier to turn over multiple smaller priced items rather than one big high priced item

I personally prefer the Wind as a card, but it looks to me like Unikarp is holding at a higher price. So that means a few things to me; now is a great opportunity to buy a Wind at a very solid price point. I think that Wind will probably continue to be a bit cheaper than Unikarp moving forward (Unikarp has more allure for the average collector imo), so it may also be a good time to buy the karp if you think itll continue to grow with that trajectory.
Basically its probably a good time to buy both so it kinda depends on which one u like more and which one you think is gonna end up costing u more

From what Iāve gathered most collector like the art of the wind better, also itās the first card of a iconic line of promos.
But unikarp seems to be held in higher esteem due to its distribution and the whole tamamushi event being so iconic.
I think both are must have and theyāre definitely the 2 on my radar at the moment.

If the karp didnāt have a shared artwork I think it would be the clear choice but I made my choice with Wind! Both are amazing though canāt go wrong

PSA 8 auction ended, with the karp ending slightly higher. Good price in my opinion.

I was thiiiisssssss close to bidding on the Magikarp. Itās a really nice looking copy. But Iām buying a house soon and going to Japan later this year so Iām trying to cut the spending down a little

Most of the stuff on rare candy this month seemed cheaper than expected. Trophies have really taken a dive since 2022 though for sure

I agree. I was trying to see if I can get the Victory Ring promo card and I got outbid for my initial entry price. For some reason the space where you enter the bid amount just got stuck for me and by the time I figured out what was going on, Leonhart struck down the gavel which ended up closing the auction a few seconds early.
It is a good lesson learnt for me regarding their UI and how to navigate it, and it was my first time with a live auction like this, since the timing was not too bad for EU folks. The prices look really promising if you are in for some affordable prize promos.

Dont leave us hanging which one did you get?? Id go with the unikarp since the history behind it is 2nd to none. Had to battle against the best of the best in an exclusive tournament which was so difficult to get accepted to. Real life elite 4 tournament. One of Ken Sugimoris first and limited artwork. Doesnt get any more āpokemonā than the Unikarp.
