I have a collection similar to this for nearly every shiny Pokemon that has been released in the past few years, but the Rayquaza is the one I went the hardest in. Was in Japan at the time, and I kept them all in their priced sleeves from the shop. There’s a lot of things in this hobby that have gone right for me thanks to luck, but I KNEW these were destined to be $50+ cards.
Heck yeah, do it! It’s very nice posing and enjoying pikachu is thankfully something that I highly doubt will fade with time like other anime or passions. I’ve always been told at least a two year rule for tattoos. Think about it for a minimum of two years before deciding to officially get it inked. Sadly everything I thought about getting has not passed the two year test… but I may love it to a five year test. Especially cuz I love Japanese hot springs and tats are banned in the majority of them…
I thought about doing a 1-10 set just recently for the zapdos. However a 10 is kinda outta my league at this point. I’ve probably got a few in the other ranges though. Haven’t decided, however. Still enjoying them in the binders.
I just need the 4 to finish my 1-10 set! Unfortunately there is only one out there so I’ll have to grade it myself if PSA ever catches up to itself.
A Pikachu tattoo has been locked in for 5+ years so it will definitely happen! I just have to not spend the whole of my discretionary income on my collection for once and save up to get it i want to do a whole pokemon sleeve eventually, but we’ll start with the Pika
The card that I never let go of and if I randomly see on ebay I’ll just buy it. I dont search for it anymore bc I have enough but everytime I see one I have to buy it. That card is holo bleed misdrevous from neo rev. Just love the holo eyes so much. It’s too cool!
@salmoncannon , Very nice cards! love the vulpix! Just recently had to pick up another copy for myself as well haha! Can’t go wrong owning a few more copies of that. And wow, those rare candies! pretty sure those are decently pricey too! Nice job on them. I’m planning a trip to Akiba this golden week here in Japan, so hopefully I can pick up some solid hauls. God knows if there is a zapdos, it’s coming back home with me hahaha!
@eviltacos01 , Yes, another excellent underrated pokemon! I’ve always thought misdreavous was adorable. Honestly, ghost pokemon in general are fantastically designed. This card was always one of my subtle wants from back in the day. Have you seen the foil psychic starmie from revelations as well? When I learned Japan had a foil version of that art, I went crazy haha! Not a million copies, but definitely a few. The foil gem is quite nice.
Just wanted to have em on the post.
@thatpikachuguy, Yeah, the struggle is real… I can’t wait to separate my incomes so I can spend my own earned money on other things aside from only pokemon. Then have business expenses be only for pokemon things. Also to separate a business purchase from a personal one. It’ll be nice to pay myself out for a card haha! Definitely hope you post pics of the process, you can make some pretty sick artwork as a full sleeve. Gotta use the real estate god gave you well!
so much adorable cat! I see the arcanine behind it as well haha! Very nice! I’ve still gotta get a single copy of he aquapolis one… eventually I’ll find one for the right price. That card was my first real venture into Japanese cards. That and the McDonald’s umbreon. All he e-series umbreon arts are a tier in my eyes. Absolute perfection.
Not gonna lie having many copies of the same card looks really cool in a binder put together, but I’m those people who are happy with just one copy. That being said I really like seeing these collections with various copies of people’s favorite cards.
Admittedly, if I had the means, I’d collect a few different sets of a card, but I’m happy to have one of each for my collection (would kill for Shining Gyarados, Hiroshima Gyarados, and Gyarados Delta binder sets).
That being said, I’ve managed to grab at least one favorite art whenever I can get them for a steal:
@azulryu, Yeah, I’ll say you’ve been able to collect a solid number of em. Never heard of hiroshima Gyarados until just now, wow that card is sweet! It must be pretty darn rare to be commanding the prices it does. Was it just a give away like Kanazawa or Shibuya Pika? I’d imagine something different though based on the price.
@nish , my brain still enters a lizard state whenever I see them and just goes, “Psychic Beans!” XD
@pigeonsyndicate , thank you! I used to have like 4 of them with 3 graded in Japanese (sold them prior to the boom), so I theoretically could have filled a single page in time. Haha. They were given out to players of the Gyarados Battle event at Pokemon Center Hiroshima in 2015 for 2 days between August 22nd and 23rd. So yeah, not an every-day find or something people could order boxes to get.
Had this on tab for a while but had to keep enjoying it back to the start to appreciate all the efforts over and over so well done everyone! What this is essentially was OP asking a Pandora Box of a question to ultimately have the epitome of Buff Guys Help Out Nerdy Kid on here. Love it.
Multiple copies of a good card always give off a hypnotizing glance upon feeling. Anyone got an uncut sheet of Ancient Mew they don’t mind parting feel free to pm me for a quote if this is okay to ask? (see wants page).
Funny you just posted this on here now, because I just saw another thread pop up with the same question. But I appreciate the support for my endeavor haha! That is a cool Hypno too. I’ve always had a weird enjoyment of Hypno cards, not really sure why. If I were to collect a ton of one though, it’d have to be his e-series version where he is eating the dream.
Yeah it’s a question that resonates with a lot of specific collectors. Dark for me, actually Breakpoint also, ah Hypno. Yet I never understood why hardly any of Sabrina’s bulk didn’t receive the rare slot including Hypno, Porygon and Slowbro. Hmmm.
