Traded a gold star charizard for a $1 feraligatr....

I remember I was still in elementary school when I decided to buy a dragon frontiers blister set. I didnt know what I would get, but remember being totally amazed when I unpacked the Charizard. Unfortunately, some kid on the bus kept annoying me to trade the card to him. Being the pushover I was then, I relented to stop him annoying me. In return I got some holo card which i don’t remember and a reverse holo ferligatr. While im glad I got so lucky by getting the card from the pack, still can’t get over the fact I just let the kid walk over me. Any times you lost a valuable card?

I remember I had a dark typhlosion (probably my best card back then) and some older kid on my bus route convinced me to trade it for two nonholo rares beedrill and espeon.
Still regret it, not too much value in the trade but definitely a hit of nostalgia.

Damn that hurts lol. I traded a 1st edition zapdos (don’t remember if it was base set or fossil but i know it was first edition) for 4 base set machops lol. He was my favorite card i had to do it! xD

Traded my first edition base Machamp for a squirtle and ponyta. This was my first holo ever. The good news is that my mom went and got it back for me despite the kid saying no trade backs. Even moms know what’s good!

Same. My mom later asked where my new shiny cards were. I told her I traded them for other cards. I showed her the ones I got and she huffed up like jigglypuff! I remember like it was yesterday. She asked who I had traded with, when I told her she automatically knew he had hustled my arse. The kid was about twice my age at that time probably 13 I was 7. She briefly went over to his house and asked for the card back and gave him his back. When she gave me back my Holo Base Zapdos she looked me dead in the eyes and told me “que no te hagan pendejo” which translates in English to, make sure they don’t take you for a fool. She got my muhfuckin’ card back, I love my mother.

Sheds pride tear*

When we were teenagers, a friend of mine had traded a bunch of cards earlier in the day and had them in toploaders in his pocket. Someone pushed him into his swimming pool as a joke and all of the cards in his pocket…well…drowned.

That is absolutely tragic =( atleast in the other cases someone was benefiting. this is just a complete waste

Makes you wonder if that kid still has the Zard!

When I was a little guy (9-10?) I traded like half of my holos for a Base Blastoise. I brought it home, took it out of the binder and set it down on the table to show my cousin. My aunt comes into the kitchen and somehow knocked over an orange juice glass and it spilled all over the poor turtle. Half of the card got wet before I snatched it up. I still have it even though it looks like it’s been through a war. My heart was broken that day

When I was around 12 I gave my entire collection away, thinking I was too old for the hobby. I had over 250 Holos, 60 being first edition (kept in toploader since day one).

Sigh, this past year I’ve been trying to buy them all back. Wish I wasn’t so naive as a kid.

Also gave away my football collection I inherited from my Dad.

That’s also been a painful hit to the wallet to buy back.

My parents had me in a Pokémon club in the mall. We would play/trade and they handed out promos.

One of the older kids I looked up to, kept bugging me to trade my 1st edition venusaur for his “extra rare porygon holo”. I finally traded it to the shyster. He never spoke to me again. Years later I realized how bad he got me.

I traded my pack fresh Blastoise for a damn Gyarados. lol

Back in the day even Charizard was like $40 and all other holos maybe $15-20 so it wasn’t that bad but ever since that day I never made a bad trade. Lesson well learned.

my favorite card was a 1st ed shining mewtwo. i brought it everywhere with me and one fine day i sat on it.

i also went overseas briefly for undergrad. i came back and found out my dad threw my entire yugioh and pokemon collection away to make space for storing a small fishing rod.

fyi i did nothing with my allowance except buy pokemon and yugioh cards for about 7 years. it was a pretty impressive collection during the golden years of pokemon and yugioh (base to neo, lob etc)

I got a first edition base Mewtwo for my birthday back in maybe 2006. I traded it to my friend in school, so they would transfer me a few gamesharked lvl 100 pokemon to my Emerald.

I do t think that’s quite what it means lol.

Traded my base Charizard for a Blastoise. A kid 1 year older than me on the school bus convinced me that Blastoise would smoke Charizard in a 1 on 1 fight because “water is SUPER EFFECTIVE against fire types!”. I ate it up.
In my 7 year old defense I had never seen a Blastoise at that point, so I was kind of stunned by the card. But I instantly knew I messed up when he chuckled, and yelled “ No trade backs!” as he went back to his seat with my baby.

I remember getting traders remorse when I got home, but I can’t remember if I made him trade me it back or not the next day.
