Tiffany x Arsham x Pokémon 29k Pendant

24k gold is too soft, the jewellery would be damaged too easily.

Nope, only when it holds gems :gem:, then it need to be 18K gold.

In my country, we have jewellery in 24K gold too, apart from 22K.

Common internet info is common internet info, copied and pasted circulated around for ages.

Welcome to the real world! You’re welcome.

So you’re saying the information on Google can’t be trusted, and a random jewellery store selling ‘‘999 pure gold pieces’’ is proof that everyone else is wrong?

That was just one of the many jewellery shops in my country that sell 999 pure gold jewellery.

If you don’t believe me, come to Singapore and walk into any goldsmith shop and ask for 999 gold jewellery. We call it “goldsmith” here.

24K is used for plenty of ornamental work but gold is usually alloyed when it is inset with stones. Copper, nickel, even silver will add some strength. It is then less likely to deform, the diamonds are less likely to pop out and cost is reduced. It’s a win-win, unless of course you want as much gold color as possible which is invariably reduced whenever you alloy it.

welcome to the real world, where 24k gold jewellery isn’t made to be worn, rather kept as a keepsake or investment - gold bullion masquerading as jewellery.

It’s for wearing too. I wore it before, like many people here in Singapore.

Yes that’s what I said earlier too.

Right, you obviously can wear it, as its formed to the shape of a piece of jewellery. You are in reality however wearing a piece of bullion. The company isn’t advertising these as wearable jewellery pieces.

They do 999 gold pieces for collectibles too, like “Si Dian Jin” miniatures (saw it before, unable to find pics, but very cute). There are also 999 gold jewellery for wearing. Of course, you can treat them as investment too if you want, like Pokemon.

Another example of 999 gold jewellery, very common in Singapore:

If anyone wants to recoup some of the cost of this I’ll throw you a benji Franklin for the ball.

LOL   :joy:

There’s 24K rings with stones too that people wear. Naturally, rings take much more of a beating than pendants so some of the methods a jeweler will employ to ensure a fairly resilient ring is to increase the thickness, fabricate the metal instead of casting it and stretch the metal to compact it. There’s a whole art to it.

Apparently theres some interest after all
