It looks like a giant eraser.

The real question is why I would buy one for 3k when I can just buy the corocoro jumbo charizard instead? And I know it’s intentional but damn those cracks and craters look ugly

If you’ve never heard of him, he’s famous for this type of artwork. He has been doing a lot of pokemon stuff recently and I have to say they’re pretty awesome.

what are they even made of?

Was it addressed why the overlay in the packaging for the sculpture has both the 1st Ed stamp and Base Set collector number but also the Base Set 2 logo? That seems weird to me.

It’s pretty cool. I might grab one.

Did he chisel all 500 cards by hand? I’m not sure what I’m looking at to be honest. Also he chiseled out the 1st ed symbol which is how you’d distinguish it from unlimited/shadowless, but maybe that was on purpose?

The Pikachu looks pretty cool though

Plastic…

Its shadowless, from the text sizing

It sold out in less than 10 seconds. There was virtually no chance for the average person to purchase one. Seemed to be bought out immediately with the help of checkout bots software. I know few people personally that used it and got through. It’s shameful IMO but what can ya do. If you look at the people reselling , it’s 80% sneaker heads/Supreme heads , since they are getting into Pokémon and have the bot programs they use for sneaker drops lol. But $3000 isn’t too bad for resale. It’s a very awesome Art piece.

yeah, since most of the world is shopify now, all you need is a shopify bot to cook these up (which most people who cook shoes have). it was heavily botted.

if you look at the pikachu tho, not sure how much of a stonk it is. it’s been out for a year and has hardly moved.

On the packaging for the card, it shows it without any ‘damage’ and its 1st edtion and has the base set 2 symbol… just a dumb cash grab :unamused:

yeah it’s terrible. he knows what he’s doing so surely he did it for the irony?

idk, the more I see of it the more it kinda looks like it’s made out of 3D printed styrofoam

Not sure why this one looks so weird. There were 4 crystal-print posters up for grabs from Tokyo’s Art Museum back in August last year including a 1st Edition Charizard version. I have all 4 framed on walls in various rooms in my house. They’re all A2 size, here is the Charizard one (forgive the poor picture):

I made a thread about the posters back in October as their price shot up all of a sudden from 6-8,000 JPY to 150,000 JPY overnight: www.elitefourum.com/t/dont-get-scammed-relics-of-kanto-through-time-posters/29990/1 which has some more pictures.

This new sculpture is strange to say the least - especially as it doesn’t appear to mimic the sculpture on display at the Relics of Kanto Through Time event - I wonder if this means he’s doing another Pokémon collaboration at a different venue?
