I appreciate that he took the time to make the video. If these are legit boxes it would be the first time I’ve ever seen a non base set pack with no WOTC logo’s on it. I’m sure I’m not alone there.
And another note is that the reality is that these packs don’t have to be resealed to be tampered with. Weighing packs is also a possibility.
Did you guys spam him with accusations or just explain that it might be resealed? If not, he’s extremely defensive in this video for no reason.
I doubt he was up to anything fishy but find it hard to believe that he has as little knowledge as he lets on. Intentionally mispronouncing names on cards, etc… The lack of knowledge on wrap logos is believable but he surely knows how many packs are in a box and set names. Could be just trying to show viewers that he is too grown up for pokemon.
The seal looks identical and likely just lacked the WOTC logos. They don’t look resealed but it would be nice if he opened the packs to check for a reseal instead of cutting them open.
He also clearly knows that you can weigh the packs to find holos. He could have easily asked what to look for before making the video and could show that all 12 holos are there.
Yeah thats the thing, I’m not tryna claim this dude is an asshole scamming people, but wilfully admitting you don’t know jack shit about items you are selling that are worth 1K + just means I would never feel comfortable buying from this person.
The outside seals lined up perfectly. Only thing that seemed off was the top of the box without the wizards logo look like it been pushed in a little bit compared to the one on the left.
Haven’t watched the video yet but I will later. I used to be subscribed to his youtube but I unsubbed after just getting annoyed at his defensive tone and ranting videos. I don’t think he intentionally is trying to scam people but he just isn’t very thorough and gets super defensive when it comes to his reputation.
Ever since openboosters got that resealed revised box from him I’ve been sceptical of his business. Like come on man, your business name is VINTAGE MAGIC and you gave a RESEALED revised box to someone who’s youtube channel is OPENBOOSTERS so that they could open the entire box at a GRAND PRIX. Jesus christ man, if there was ever a time to double check for authenticity it was then.
For someone who cares so much about his reputation he acts like he would rather go through a refund than spend the extra time ensuring things are as described. Sure you can refund the money but you can’t refund disappointment.
They bought the revised box at that same gp I don’t even think open boosters purchased it, he was just opening it as hype for the booth and they ran into that resealing.
Very different situation. I would continue to focus on this one, because honestly it would be good for the bigger magic vendors to get into pokemon as well, as long as it is happening and educated and legitimate way.
He selling off old stock of a long time client. If he really had a full case (and maybe more) of Team Rocket, what are the chances multiply cases been sealed with the incorrect seal? I think it’s possible. WotC is known for having bad quality control. Maybe they ran out of the WotC seal and just popped in a clear seal. Magic product from the same era as Team Rocket was sealed in a clear seal too. All the other print marks (on the bottom, inside the box) all look identical to the WotC-seal.
Daniel points out a print defect (or at least, odd logo print) on the WotC-seal box, any explanation for that?
But I think Daniel did the right thing, opening the problem. Getting the information out that the boxes are real and just pack the wrong seal. Why would someone go over resealing an entire case of Team Rocket?!
All the ad revenue on YouTube and all side-sales + sellable singles probably repaid for the box in the end. And they took a resealed product out of the market/out of circulation. But that box and this TR box are indeed two complete different things.
Yeah what was with the fuzzy lettering on the packs from box with the logos? That was very odd. I personally believe he has no fault in this and people should not believe that he was trying to scam. unfortunately we really don’t know if the box wasn’t legit because he did not open all the packs to see if he gets any holos. But yep never have seen a box without any logos so it would be really interesting to see if there are any holos in the box. The wrapping seemed legit tho with how it was sealed.
Worst part is that he would have to open another non-WOTC wrap box on camera in order to show the holos are there and came from that sealed box. Asking someone knowledgeable prior to cracking it would have been a good idea.
