The PWCC Megathread

I purchased a mislabeled Yu-Gi-Oh card and PSA kindly told me to fuck off for the financial guarantee. They rushed one of my orders and gave me a small goodwill voucher but I got killed after it was relabeled and sold.

Ah ok thanks for the clarification. I looked too quickly and thought those were sold prices.

So PSA made a mistake and accidently labelled a card from the gift starter set (very common, worth a few bucks) for an illustration contest card (worth thousands) and now two buyers got suckered into this because the two cards looked exactly the same and they trusted in the PSA’s label when making the purchase.

How is PSA not liable for this? They made the mistake with the wrong label. If they don’t want to pay out, fine but they should at the very least, deactivate the certificate number so that future buyers don’t fall for this trap and ask for it to be returned for a reholder to correct the label.

And wow, the original seller made out like a bandit flipping because of PSA’s mistake.

While some of what you said stands, I think you missed my earlier response in the thread. The cards are for sale at the price, nobody bought them yet

Even the Starter Set reprint is a $300+ card in PSA 10. But I think a copy of the actual winner’s prize card would be worth a lot more than just thousands, also

Yeah my bad, thought it was sold already. That’s good, still time for PSA to deactivate the certificate number and fix their mistake so no one gets duped into buying a five figure card (but actually worth a couple hundred).

Seeing as we’re on the topic of PSA, in the case of my mislabeled PSA 9 1st Ed Base Raticate (labeled as Porygon) which I just won on PWCC - don’t PSA have a guarantee where I can get it recased for free, since it’s their mistake? Would this affect the grade at all?

Did you report it to PSA?

Because I dont see PSA trawling sales listings looking for their own errors to fix

I’m interested to see if they will or not. Seen some posts recently where, in my opinion, they haven’t held true to their “guarantee”. Those two occasions were condition based and not a clear mislabel. Keep us posted!

It might be a few years, but I will!

They will absolutely relabel your mislabeled card free of charge. That’s much different than trying the financial guarantee on a mislabel which they won’t do.

That’s good to hear, thank you!

On the other hand, here I am adjusting some prices of stuff I have on PWCC’s fixed market, checking recent solds, and an ebay auction just finished higher than my fixed listing…

@mew8ight I check fixed pricing periodically and ya sometimes there is decent deals there. If I see something I’m after for a reasonable price I’ll definitely grab it

Am I missing something? If PSA mislabels a card and you win it on auction for a bigger price that reflects the card on the label, they won’t make up the difference?

I bought a PSA 9 Base 1st Edition Raticate on the Week 1 block, and because I wasn’t paying attention I didn’t realise the slab says ‘Porygon’. So, I’m hoping to eventually send it in to have the label fixed. Not trying to claim anything else for it!

I posted on IG about a card that had a weird stain on it, looks like BBQ sauce fingerprint. The card got a PSA 9 grade when it clearly shouldn’t have, didn’t have the stain when the card was sent. PSA saw my post and has now deactivated the cert number and is demanding I send the card back to them. So they are looking on some platforms for their own errors.

The problem would be (1) determining the card is actually from the vending series and not belonging to the the original illustrator winner’s prize cards and (2) the fair market value that the original illustrator winner’s prize card would sell for considering the winner’s prize card and vending series promo are indistinguishable.

Here is a thread on the topic

Correct. Unless Nat has changed that policy, that is what happened to me in 2020.
