The most forgettable gen 3 Pokémon?

TIL Chimeco and Grumpig are Gen 3 Pokémon. Despite having at over 100 hours in Ruby, I never bothered to catch or use them and my brain apparently erased all knowledge of them existing.

false!

these noodly boys are the best fossil pokemon
(they do need storm drain imo, but the design is so cool. I loved seeing them in the new pokemon snap)

I agree with everybody saying Chimecho. It’s such a rare encounter in a location that is usually just visited once during the story and you don’t even have to walk through the tall grass at all while you complete the story events. Furthermore, it gets it’s Pre-Evolution only a Gen later.

For me it’s

Huntail (In huge and great ocean pokemon of Hoenn I felt like huntail didn’t glow up).

Nincanda (Yeah tbh I greatly remember shedinja and ninjask better but I eventually keep on forgetting the base form until I get to think of shedinja is a popular mid evo)

Chimecho(being anime watcher i feel i will not forget chimecho but considering the games and other factors. Yeah!! basically chimecho is not needed)

Out of 3 for me it’s definitely huntail the first pick. With a close one being nincanda

I’m actually SHOCKED for the amount of Chimecho suggestions. It’s a cool design and gen IV gave it even a pre-evolution: I’ve always thought it was pretty lovable, but I won’t judge lol

The only reason I remember Gorebyss is because its Pokedex entry scared me as a kid, haha:

“Although Gorebyss is the very picture of elegance and beauty while swimming, it is also cruel. When it spots prey, this Pokémon inserts its thin mouth into the prey’s body and drains the prey of its body fluids.”

I do honestly like the design! Haha, guess I was more focused on the “cool” Pokemon when I was playing through Gen 3 as a kid.

Funny thing is Huntail is one of my favorites.

Grumpig

Also shocked, IMO any pokemon owned by Ash, team rocket, or gym leaders in the anime are very memorable. Corphish from Ash’s team is pretty memorable because of how goofy he was. Same with James’s Chimecho… chime chime!

I always liked Gorebyss and Huntail. I feel like Relicanth would be the winner except you need it to find the Regis.
My vote will probably go to Masquerain. I’ve battled Surskit plenty of times in the wild, but I’ve seen Masquerain like once just because I needed to evolve Surskit to complete the Pokedex. Dunsparce Seleao gets a close second place.

Masquerain is a fun Pokemon to use! Especially for a bug trainer like yourself

Dunsparce is from gen 2

See, Dunsparce is so forgettable I forgot what generation it’s in :see_no_evil:

I had no idea! You taught me this!

people always seem to forget the name of the pokemon this evolves from.

I’d say Barboach is up there. Whiscash is only a little less forgetable because of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX (a game which is also kinda forgetable…beautiful visuals though).

Unironically barboach and wiscash are two of my favorite pokemon- I used it in my first Platinum play though, and it was great to have. Barboach itself has a really nice shiny too.

The most important Gen III Pokémon is, ironically, the most forgotten one nowadays.
I’ve always found interesting how Kecleon was heavily used to promote Gen III games before they were released + the fact that a Kecleon card was the first Pokémon TCG Japanese e-Card to be distributed to public … I have to write about that someday …

These two would be my votes.
