Bulbasaur was my first favorite starter pokemon and while I absolutely dislike his last evolution and would love to see that kind of collection as well!
Hell, I think a complete Trio Starter Collection would be amazing! A collection of all the starter pokemon!
Good episode. I love how Gyarados is portrayed as this rare and powerful pokemon and while it’s become weaker in the games ever since the original red/blue version but still is one of the most widely used because of it’s power. Some of my favorite cards are ones that show Gyarados as this ferocious creature which is why I love Shining Gyarados so much because of the artwork, but I also love Misty’s Gyarados, Gyarados ex with that devilish grin, and even the Base set features a powerful and symbolic Gyarados.
If memory serves me right from a conversation we had before.
He’s owned more than one. >_<
Edit: Reina, I just took a look at your collection! It’s quite impressive! I also see some Gyarados cards that I don’t have. *makes grabby hands at them*
I know he had two snap Koffing cards, but not sure if he had two of the other snap cards. I think he was selling his personal copies because he needed to free up some cash.
That is true Tara. However, the prices have definitely climbed since then. I actually messaged Jimmy about that exact Koffing, and should of pulled the trigger back then. That was before people really knew about the Snap prize cards as they do today.
I bought a SNAP Gyarados at auction for $2705 on Oct. 1 2012, that was the cheapest I’ve known and the only one that has sold publically in recent years. Jimmy sold a SNAP card or two privately recently but they went for more than that $ amount. And obviously back when there was one or two of them on eBay years ago they went for much less as UU pointed out.
Also, I know you’re going to kill me for owning a SNAP Gyarados. I am sorry I’d let you see it!!!
@smpratte – Thank you for confirming the aforementioned details, Scott! Yes, I agree; SNAP cards have tremendously increased in value. I believe the low sale price may have been due to a lack of advertising, or – as you previously mentioned – a lack of expertise on the SNAP Cards.
I’d love a picture at least! I’m sooooooo jealous though! Good for you for owning one, though! Who knows, maybe after a few years of being part of this community you’ll get sick of looking at that big ol’ tongue and decide, “You know who might appreciate this card? Azul Ryu” and send it to me.
*hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge*
Nah but in all serious, you’re soooooo lucky!!!
Reina, keep working on it. It already looks great! I especially love your Magikarp collection. So much good art in that!
Thank you one of my finest collectibles! I was (and am) very pleased with the 7.5 grade and this awesome card. I wonder what Jimmy’s on eBay would grade!?
Ya I mean I’m more about 9’s and 10’s when it comes to mass produced “rare” cards, but for something this rare to get a 7.5 is absolutely amazing! I would hold onto to that bad boy for as long as you can. But make sure you have a good safe! Of course haha if a their broke into your residence they’re probably see Pokemon cards and think, eh those can’t be worth much haha. I’m more afraid of fire with my collection than theft ya know?
