The Grand Gyarados Collection

Okay

I have noticed that you don’t have the 3 versions of Gyarados Topsun : error, blue back, green back

I’m aware these rules exist as well as I acknowledge the fact having admins eager to act for the benefit of our comunity. In this case Cody has been a long time trusted member and I can easily recommend dealing with him (as I have done before). In fact I would prefer doing so with most ‘old members’ even though some of them may not be as active as our more recent inductees. I noticed several have posted almost more than I did in a fractional amount of time. The number of posts does not indicate how trusted/reliable a person is. I think the rule was designed to keep people away who randomly come here to offer their cards and not care about the forum or simply to give everyone some sort of probation time. I believe making an exception or rethinking that rule would be fair.

This is not to offend or insult anyone. I just felt the need to vouch for him and say what is on my mind!
Cheers,

Oh and I really like your collection. Gyarados is a Boss and Shining Gyarados is without a doubt amongst my favourite cards of all time!

In regards to the rules, they are there for everyone regardless of reputation to be unbiased and fair. For future reference, it is best to message a mod about a post so things don’t get off topic. If anyone has questions on where the rules are located, or needs clarification, feel free to message a mod at anytime.

Lets continue the discussion on the collection!

Thanks! :stuck_out_tongue:

And Linkdu, I have never even seen a Green Back so I just thought it was a nickname for the item. I just looked through the forums and saw there’s the japanese yahoo auctions, so maybe one will pop up there some time! Just have to figure out how to go through the middleman!

@japanime is your man. He’s helped me get lots of cards to yahoo Japan and he is a first class person to work with.

Thanks so much. Being new, how much should I expect to be charged for say like a 10 dollar item with the middleman fees, shipping, etc?

Japanime charges 20% more on items 3000 yen or less (10 yen is approximately $1 USD) and 15% for items over that. Then there is typically an 80-200 yen cost to ship an individual card from the japanese seller to Japanime and about a 310 yen bank transfer fee for each transaction with a seller. So if you bought multiple items from the same seller its just one bank transfer fee. Then once Japanime receives everything he packages it and quotes you a shipping price to the us. So you usually want to get items you can calculate are going to be significantly lower than ebay or are so rare they’re worth extra cost. Some things I think are better to just get on ebay or on this forum but others can be great deals on YJ. Depends on the cards. I’d recommend buying several items you want when you do use YJ to spread the shipping cost and make each item more economical.

Wow, that’s a lot of good information to know! Thanks so much for explaining all of that. It’s much more complicated than I had originally thought so I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I’ll hold off on some of the items until something incredible comes up.

Ya no worries. I definitely don’t recommend it for any old item. Its better to do it either for an insanely good deal or super rare card or when you have several things you want to buy at once

Everyone’s single-Pokemon collections are really motivating me to start a Bulbasaur collection. That’s my favourite Pokemon, and it would be really rewarding to do. Sigh :stuck_out_tongue:

Again well done with the collection

Ooh Bulbasaur is a nice choice for a favorite pokemon. I think we already talked about this somewhere, but you gotta love that vending Bulbasaur. Best Bulbasaur card I’ve seen!

Vending Bulbasaur is nice but not my favourite. SNAP Bulbasaur just kills me, it is such a beautiful card.

When contemplating starting a single-Pokemon collection you need only ask one question which will yield two paths:

Is my Pokemon card of choice featured as a SNAP card?

A) No: proceed to collect that Pokemon
B) Yes: cry for a bit, then grudgingly proceed to collect that Pokemon anyway while forever wishing the SNAP card would present itself

Haha to be honest those snap cards drive me nuts. They’re amazing cards to have only a few made. Its really depressing. Well put Jason!

Very well said Jason. Very well said.

Imagine deciding to collect every single Pikachu card including promos.

Many have tried, none have succeeded!

CBD, go for it. Even if you don’t “catch them all”, you can still get a great collection going. And with Bulbasaur being a really great pokemon printed in a lot of different versions with variations in rarity. Many will be easy to get, others not so much, but worth it nevertheless.

And the Snap card sadness continues!

get this card, get this card!

BAH!

The guy, Jimmy, re-auctions that all the time. I’m convinced he does it to tempt all of use who collect Snap cards or pokemon-specific cards.

He’ll accept much less than 8.5k, but anything less than a few thousand and it’s a no go.

Sooooooooooooooo, anyone here who is rich and an incredible appreciator of those who collect that would like buy this card and surprise donate for me?

Anyone?

No?

*weeps quitely*

Pikachu collectors enter a battle they cannot win O.O
I’d love to see a Bulbasaur collection, though. It would be fairly unique since they poor guy is always left out in starter discussion.

BTW, Azul Ryu, I saw the SS Anne episode a few days ago with the Gyarados. How creepy when they all pop out of the water lol
