at this pace, my 3 orders that entered on 9/1/2020 will get done in 40 weeks haha. it’s already been there 7 months.
Most of the time they are working on orders much further ahead than the current CTD. It’s usually orders with issues that are
holding back the CTD. I wonder how many new folks that submitted due to the Quarterly special made errors with their orders
that are holding it back from reflecting the average CTD. It also could reflect just how many orders they got in the second half of
the quarterly special.
Regular service level used to get entered in 2-3 weeks and then take 2-3 weeks to complete. Regular service level appears severely
impacted. Previously that was the most efficient level to send your cards in to get graded fast and still have room for profit.
If you don’t mind the slower shipping speeds, Registered Mail through USPS is actually the safest way to ship. The packages are signed off on every time they change hands through the delivery process, leaving the last signed employee accountable if it goes missing.
My local office always freaks out when they can’t immediately locate a registered box that I’m picking up.
cool idea for smaller collections but unless they were super thin I would not like to have a bigger collection in them as it makes them even more bulky.
Would most likely not use them as I don´t have a problem with label differences within my collection.
Has anyone submitted a card for a mislabel and had it returned with a lower grade?
My friend used CGC and paid for walkthrough service with subgrades. They forgot to add said subgrades and deemed it a mechanical error and had him return the cards. Upon getting his cards a second time, he noticed one of the cards came back with a grade down (think it was a 9.0 to 8.5) on one of his cards. He’s also still fighting them charging for the return service when they said the would do it for free.
It makes sense they would crack the case and have to regrade it. Otherwise, how else would they assign the subgrades? I’m not complaining but curious if anyone had something similar happen
I am curious what people think about the raising prices once everything has calmed back down to normal levels (if that happens). Do you think we see the return of the $10-15 for bulk cards or is 25+ the new normal for years to come?
if they lower prices to what they were they’re just gonna have the same problem and it’ll close down within a few months. My guess is that they’ll open the upper and more expensive options first just to test the waters and not get too much then go from there.
I’m about to send cards to CGC. The value is significant enough (around $1500) that I think it makes sense to insure them when shipping to CGC.
I’ve seen info suggesting that just using a carrier’s declared value probably doesn’t cover raw cards at their real value. Further, it seems that third-party insurance could cost less. However, I’m having trouble figuring out what it could cost and what would be a suggested company to use.
What do others use when shipping to a grading company? If a third-party insurance, what are some good companies?
No insurance, FedEx express. Never lost a single shipment.
re: grading fees
I can´t imagine them coming down to 10$ on a permant level ever again. What they might do is some sort of (quarterly) special for 10$, that allows them to control the influx of cards much better.
I sent to PSA for a mislabel (CRC Lane 1). Interestingly I admitted to them that this slab pre-dated the shadowless notation but they still sent me a prepaid label and re-encapsulated it for free.
@pokematt , @sparky55603 ,
Posted my damaged Alakazam and Pidgeot PSA return. Ludkins is going to try a “machine error” return that will probably take 1yr + but at least its free
