The Giant Professional Grading Thread

Logo looks familiar…

I also saw slabs from another UK company called “Getgraded” start popping up on eBay lately. Competition in the industry is obviously a good thing, but will be interesting to see how many of these new companies survive long term.

@pichufan Okay yah it makes more sense to go off the registration date and not the arrival date lol. So the CTD still could be somewhat accurate then… Hopefully they are done soon then!

Is there a list of languages BGS and CGC accept? I’ve got some more modern cards that I want to look into grading.

CGC accepts all of them

So that’s five UK grading companies for me to know of now:

GetGraded
MGC
PokeGrade UK
Noble Grading
UK Grading

GetGraded are the only ones currently trading, and they did have a very bumpy start, but things seem to be getting better with them.

They’re currently doing a “Butterfry” giveaway to help support children’s cancer charities and recently announced that they’re hiring more staff and doubling up on machinery to expand output.

It will be interesting to see who manages to sink or swim out of the bunch by the end of this year!

Crazy only 11 psa10s out of 991 base unlimited cards! I knew It would be low but not that low haha

Recorded this order on September 22, 2020. It was the 15 free sub order. Just today moved to assembly.
Only 15 cards but some heavy hitters. Can you spell UPCHARGE:(

Can confirm I am also waiting for Ludkins, June, July, August.

Man I have had a 20 day submission stuck in “grading” since 10/30/2020 through ludkins. Gettin kinda anxious I’m just wondering if anyone has any submissions from back in August under the same submission level still stuck at the same spot. Arrived at PSA 8/28, Research and ID 9/30, Grading 10/30. It’s only 5 cards too but they’re my favorite 5 cards

I submitted a 20-day with them at the beginning of September and I just got the grades on March 19th (through their website). I’m not sure how long they take to actually ship the cards back to you after they have been graded, but I am expecting another 1-2 months until I have them in my hands.

A buddy of mine had something sketchy happen today where he was given an offer to buy a base set Blastoise and Venusaur. What was off was that they were removed from a PSA case where they received a grade 9. We looked up the certification number on the PSA registry and both cards came back with this:

The certification number provided, #XXXXXXXX, has been intentionally DEACTIVATED in the database.

I’ve never see this before and from my research I found that a deactivation can be issued from PSA when a card was deemed to be altered.

Has anyone seen this before or provide insight into how this might happen?

I’ve seen that when a card is regraded in a graded card review, it is given a new serial number and the old one deactivated. Supposedly if you crack cards out for your binder or to regrade and send in the labels they also deactivate serials.

This is a BGS 8.5. (9.5 edges, 9 corners, 8.5 centering, 8.5 surface) Do we think this is worth cracking to try for a PSA 9?

I would not take that risk.
Main reason being that it is very difficult to see the corner indentation from the envelope (bottom left and top right) with the case. I graded myself several masaki that got 8.5 WITH light indents and would probably get 7 with PSA.

Hard agree, I cracked an 8.5 and it hit a 6 at PSA

Thank you guys so much, you just saved me a lot of money. In your experience, does PSA do a better job at recognizing the Masaki mark? Have you ever seen high PSA grades with a mark that was missed like you have with BGS?

Tagging @magicrap, I’m new and still learning how the forum notification system works.

I think it is not specifically related to masaki but more on grading criteria.
Overall, indentations are downgrading cards more at PSA than BGS. From my personal point of view, I think PSA is too harsh on masaki as those marks doesn’t impact eye appeal to a point of getting a 6.

That definitely seems like the simplest explanation. Do people usually confirm with PSA when they crack a case?

Most people do not send the labels in after they crack
