I’ve had some brutal subs these past couple months as well.
I finally cracked all the 9s sent them together in 1 sub and it got an 80% gem rate.

My most recent sub just was delivered yesterday and I spent a few minutes looking at each card under high magnification and high lighting. It was just so frustrating seeing cards in the 6-7 be consistently better than the 9’s. I’ll be resubbing 8 of the 33 cards, so hopefully I see the same result you did!
What’s people’s thoughts and experience with Ace grading?
I’m seeing a lot of advertisement for Ace from UK poketubers regarding the grading company but I just don’t trust it.
For instance have a look at these 10s in the below video, they would have difficulty getting 10s in PSA due to the centring.
Disclosure - the poketuber co-owns the grading company, so again I’m wary of the results.
Well from that analysis alone I can’t think of a worse source of info. Maybe our UK friends can tell us what they think

Honestly now that PSA is cheap to submit to I don’t see any reason to submit to ACE.
I bought one ACE slab that I cracked and it had an ugly ace logo at the bottom of the slab which blocked some of the visibility of the card , I think they’ve removed it now though.
Maybe it’s for people who want even cheaper grading than PSA, but even here in the U.K. ACE just seems like any other 3 letter grading company that’s popped up in the last few years
Edit: they do custom art labels for cards so maybe that’s the USP

I’m an official Ace hater
A vast majority of their advertising comes in the form of ‘we are better than PSA for XYZ reason’. Mainly talking about their ‘consistency’ and ‘better 10s’.
They have the exact same inconsistencies as other grading companies, but yet have a superiority complex over their grades apparently being more ‘legit’ etc.
My first graded card was an ACE 10 that I cracked to cross to PSA. It had a very obvious crease, and came back from PSA a 6 (I was very green and just sent it anyway thinking if ACE gave it a 10, PSA would).
My other subs have been just as inconsistent. 10s that have whitening. 9s that have no noticeable issues. 5s on brand new japanese ultramodern with no dents I could see. Cases come back scratched, cases come back with hairs in them, all sorts of stuff.
Anyone who does a decent amount of grading will probably, reading this, now be thinking ‘yeah but that happens at PSA too’ and you’d be soooo right. The issue I take with ACE is that their hype men on youtube spend a lot of time making a big deal about ACE’s consistency, grading scale strictness, ‘true 10s’ etc etc in direct comparison to PSA.
The ACE label is a hit or miss gimmick, personally I’m not a fan but I know I’m very weird in the fact that out of all the labels in the hobby I actually prefer the PSA label and how simple it is. It is a nice USP though that a lot of people do enjoy - I know I’m in the minority here.
Personally I think if it wasn’t for most of the big UK pokemon youtube scene having various reasons (sponsorships, creator codes, friendship with founder etc) to constantly be pushing ACE, they’d have faded out as soon as PSA opened up bulk again

Grading a card with ACE is okay if you want a sealed protective case and a fancy label if that’s your thing. The grade means very little in reality, the Shining Raichu in that video I would have been embarrassed to show that on camera.
Bad enough if it was someone with no attachment to the company, a part owner getting a 10 on that card destroys its credibility in my opinion.
Essentially marking your own homework, suspect at best.

As a UK collector I wouldn’t ever submit to ace. The key point being I want the card in the slab to be the focal point, not the label. The PSA label does the job and let’s the card shine. The Ace philosophy seems to be the opposite.

any card in a slab that isnt psa/bgs/cgc is only worth the raw card price. or put another way i guess any slab that doesnt qualify for ebay auth is basically worthless
