thats bgs for ya

With bgs anything under a 9.5 isn’t the best. Psa is more strict with lower grades, bgs not so much.

BGS is inconsistent, but not that bad. This smells like a scam to me.

having graded with BGS quite a lot, imo thats standard BGS

If you say so. I buy and crack BGS slabs regularly and have never seen something this outrageous. :person_shrugging:

Might be a scam but there is a reason I only buy psa slabs for the collection.

Also a scam on a big trophy card like that is a bummer because that’s not good

I have graded half a dozen or so 9.5s with dents, expecting a nice 7 and getting gem mint is always fun.
some 9s with creases too. Its easily the most dangerous slab to crack

If there is a BGS grade guarantee, I hope the buyer chases those misgrade dollars.

lol maybe if they knew how to operate a scanner or a qr code theyd have a case.

BGS would not honor grades for me when I got a BGS 8.5 without subs and wanted to add subs a month later. I think they do whatever they want over there

Hey guys, first post here. I actually joined to ask the ā€œis this worth gradingā€ question about one of my favorite cards: EX Team Rocket Returns Kingdra. My copy has a few holo scratches that are very light and difficult to capture via phone camera, but perhaps more unfortunately it also has some edge wear right in the middle of the front side top edge, see…

Apparently I can only upload 1 image, so the rest are here: E4 Kingdra - Google Drive

What are the opinions of people here, much more experienced than myself? Is this an automatic 3-5 because of holo scratches and edge wear, or how is this level of wear typically viewed by PSA vs BGS?

Any card that you want graded is worth grading. This would be somewhere around a PSA 7-8 assuming that there aren’t any dents or creases hidden from view. Note that you have an Additional Ink error (i.e., extra ink added to the Pokeball on the back). If you send it to CGC, they’ll add the error.

Is this the yellowish spots, or what are you referencing here? I know absolutely nothing about Pokemon TCG errors. I’ve been involved with pokemon primarily through the games since GSC, with my interest peaking around DPPt, falling off some for Gen 5, and coming back into XY. I haven’t played any since then, and only started looking into the TCG recently. There’s just so much amazing pokemon art from the last 2 decades, I was instantly hooked back in.

Yes, that’s right. Those yellowish spots are not supposed to be there.

You can read about errors here:

PSA is grading broader errors now???

God, the label is absolutely atrocious for this

Hey all,

I’m pretty sure these white specks are dust/debris on top of the case (sleeve)? and not inside the slab.

Gonna drop some serious cash on this card, but wanted to get some thoughts beforehand. It’s graded a Mint 9

Thanks in advance.
