If the 9.5 were a quad, or quad plus, then BGS hands down

Now for the millionth example of how cgc is a joke of company. Significantly more so than PSA at least. Beyond laughable at this point.

10>9.5

BGS 9.5 does not have to be quad in order to be desireable. I love BGS 9,5s with a 9 Centering. Such cards are cheaper and BGS 9 centering is stricter than PSA 10 centering (compare here: BGS, Card Grading, Grading Scale - Beckett Sports Card Standards & https://www.psacard.com/resources/gradingstandards)

If I have inspected both cards, and both look equally good, I go with the CGC 10.

Ngl, that silver stings a bit.

I’m curious, having never owned a BGS slab, does the sleeve inside impede the enjoyment of the holo? Like seems like you are looking through an extra layer of material which seems like it would make the card a lot less vibrant.

Anything to make a buck.

Yeah I wanna know too. Like Ultra Pro have Team Bags which, when you put on over your card, makes the card a lot duller.

Yes, the sleeves BGS uses is the only thing I do not like about their slabs. This extra layer creates reflections when you view the card from different angles. Obviously, it also has the same effect as when you sleeve your cards. However, I only own older BGS slabs, maybe it got better recently.

The sleeve comes with free dust and partcicles

It’s transparent enough and imo does not make a noticeable difference when reviewing the card. The soft plastic is an extra layer of protection for what its worth…

Yes, I do feel that the sleeve is obtrusive and very noticeable. This is my first owning BGS slabs because I wanted to see if I liked their service.

Overall, I do feel that the cards in the BGS case are less vibrant than the ones in PSA cases. Also, maybe I was lucky with my PSA cases but my BGS case has a lot of trapped dust particles. BGS cases are also much thicker and angular than PSA cases.

The BGS cases do stack pretty well but I think i think I will stick with PSA for future submissions.

Agreed with others here. BGS cases love to trap dust and the inner sleeve does obscure the view of the card, especially under bright light as @PokemonProfessor mentioned.

Completely forgot, I place my psa slabs in plastic sleeves lol.

Don’t forget about CGC, highest clarity of the three.

Yeah see that’s a big turn off to me. I already am abandoning sleeved protectors for my PSA slabs because it ruins the enjoyment of the card. I bought a box that keeps the slabs separate from each other so you don’t get scratches on the fronts and that way you can pull them out, hold them by the sides, and have better enjoyment of the card.

Currently at 3 weeks of "In Assembly " on a 30 card bulk order should i be concerned with how long this is taking at this point?

Ive had a few weeks in QA before once but seems odd for assembly.

Everything is taking longer right now. I wouldn’t worry about it.

My order just went into Grading yesterday after sitting in Research & ID since 7/28.

Hi all,

I’m relatively new to collecting (~1 year) so not sure if this is a common issue or not. Just purchased a PSA slab on eBay that seems to have a strange issue with the inside of the slab itself.

The best way I can describe it is that it looks like the inside of the case has been sneezed on. It’s entirely on the inside of the slab (the outside obviously wipes clean) and on both sides. Difficult to see from the photos but the issue fully covers the inside surfaces on both sides.

I’ve seen pics of mold growing inside CGC slabs before so that’s my main concern. I’m trying to decide whether this would even qualify for an eBay return (seller doesn’t accept returns), and I don’t really fault the seller, who may not even have noticed. I like the card so I’m not even inclined to return it - it’s just kinda gross. My main concern is possible damage to the card - it’s not a super high-end end card (value is ~$200). It’s graded as a fair (imo) PSA 8 but I’m also thinking of cracking it just to save the card in case whatever’s in here grows…

Bear with me because it’s extremely hard to take photos of this. I have more photos but can only include one at a time as a new user. It’s more noticeable in person from certain angles.

What would you do? attempt to return? crack? leave it be? put it in rice (/s)?

This type of streaking is an occasional problem with the manufacturing/sealing of PSA slabs. I’ve run into it many, many times.

  • No, it is not mold.
  • No, it is not a valid reason for return.
  • No, it will not damage the card.

Believe it or not, it’s actually on the outside of the case and can be completely cleaned/polished away! Use PlastX liberally and you’ll have a brand new case without the streaking.

Also, welcome to e4!

Thanks. I’m not referring to the streaks on the outside of the case. I’m referring to the circular pattern on the inside of the case.
