Fair point, at the end of the day I hold no bias to either grading company. I just wish PSA could shake themselves up a little and get their qc in check.
I think theyāre doing ok.
Lol imagine if this was BGS or CGC. Lol the fire would be impossible to put out
I know Iām late, but this happened to me for around 8-10 of my cards in a 35-40 card sub (canāt remember exactly how many) a few months ago. Damage in the same top right corner on every card. Fortunately, they didnāt damage my very best cards, but they were still good cards (including a Japanese Charizard LV X) and it was incredibly frustrating, nonetheless.
Is there something wrong with PSAās newer/current encapsulating machines? These issues did not exist in 2020-21. (Its been awhile since Iāve graded)
Possible to get any close up pics of the corners? If you donāt mind sharing
This was a few months ago. I sold all of those cards already.
But they all had like a rounded whitening in the top right back corner that I know for a fact was not on the cards when I sent them.
Grades are assigned prior to encapsulation, so these issues are occurring beforehand. Every one of the cards that were damaged in the submission I mentioned received PSA 9s because of the whitening that suddenly appeared, so it must be happening at some point between the Research & ID and Grading stages.
I would imagine it has to do with the āfirst lookā feature, then? That seems to be a relatively new early step in the process.
Posted this back at the beginning of 2023 but Iāve had multiple PSA submissions where thereās been small but noticeable issues with the cards Iāve received back.
Wow I was worried I would be waiting over a month to get my Lugia back after sending it in to get a new better cut label from CGC.
But it got delivered last Thursday and itās already gone from the first grading/encapsulating stage to quality control. I wonāt get it this week because of the hurricane but Iām guessing next week which is fantastic.
Makes me wonder if they do put a priority in high value reholders even though it shows the same eta.
All my reholders took a few days too
Wow thatās awesome. Especially for how much it costs.
Yes Iāve been extremely impressed with all their service (having come from mainly BGS where they literally took 6 months to respond to my email)
If they had black labels from the start my collection would be all cgc
Iām honestly struggling to even come up with a reason to grade with BGS now.
CGC has basically become go to for anything I donāt think will hit a PSA 10. Economy tier and getting returns within two weeks, combined with decent sale prices. Unless I was just absolutely certain I could get pristine I donāt see the point unless CGC Gem Mints finally drop below BGS 9.5 prices.
Only thing keeping BGS alive now is the black label
Sports cards and mtg keep bgs alive.
Truest statement here
Best way to turn a 1.25$ modern v into a 400$ āgrailā
For us Euros I donāt see any other company other than PSA as viable choice.
The market imho is so much more narrow on both CGC cards and BGS cards in Europe.
Is it grading for re-selling or just to have authentication for personal collection? Because CGC is really stepping up by having its submission base in Germany. This just makes it more easy and seamless in my personal opinion to submit to their EU base than through some 3rd party services. I think it wont be long before it starts picking up a lot of traction and attention through word of mouth and experiences.
Cheers!
