The Giant Professional Grading Thread

This is a pretty hot point of contention for some people. Being picky over certs is kind of missing the point imo; its like being on the right track bc grading isnt an exact science, but ultimately failing to understand that the actual condition of the card is more important than the grade. Basically, buy the card, not the grade!

Any Canadians know if we are still getting charged Duties/Taxes on PSA cards returning from the states?
I want to send in badly but paying duties/taxes on the service really sucks…

How likely is it for a Zapdos with the evolution box missing holofoil to get a PSA 10?

Most Fossil Zapdos have the missing evolution box. I believe that the corrected version is rarer. A PSA 10 unlimited copy is much harder to get than a PSA 10 1st edition copy if you look at PSA’s pop report.

Also, I didn’t know that PSA has started to recognize ā€œcorrected foilā€ variants on unlimited copies. That designation is brand-new and will not be accurate on the pop report for some time.

On my last order, fedex attempted to charge me but through email I told them that these were my cards originally. They asked for the original shipping information and then I didn’t have to pay any customs

sweet. thanks a bunch, in past experience Fedex has paid the duties without my consent then just asks for the compensation once its delivered to me… did you have to take any extra steps to ensure fedex didnt outright pay for any duties/tax at border?

Good to know. Which shipping service did they return? If you remember? was it fedex UPS CP?

What are y’all’s thoughts on how likely it is to get PSA 10 with horizontal back print lines?

It was FedEX and I’m pretty sure they always do FedEX, but I’ve personally only sent in one submission!

That’s the Japanese versions which are outpacing the English ones.

Maybe because it’s worth a lot more in Japanese?

That’s how it seems to work. There are also hundreds/thousands of Serena graded and also Candice.

Has anyone noticed harsher grading when submitting cards in a tier that is too low for them? Or just an upcharge??
I’ve only ever submitted to the appropriate tier but given that I’m in Canada I kind of want to get everything shipped back in one package (shipping is like $60+ return), and to save money by just eating any upcharges given.

Decided this thread was more appropriate to actually ask this.

Does anyone know what process I should take to get CGC to research and gather evidence for a cards proof of authenticity? Should I just reach out to them directly or is there a specific department or manager to speak to? Anyone dealt with this?

Send it in a submission? Isn’t that exactly what the authentication process is?

I tried. Got the note on the right back from them. Now Id like to see if I can resubmit but with more detailed information. Hoping someone would have been in a similar situation and if they had any suggestions as to what theyd accept or who to even talk to about researching it so it wont be rejected.
