I sent a couple of cards with this kind of edgewear, one was a 2016 JPN Festival with a little and one was a 2019 Staff Festival with a lot. They got a 10 and 9 respectively and I was expecting a pair of 7s or 8s.
Unsure if they don’t count that kind of edgewear too harshly or they just miss it. Can’t see it much in the slab.
Dents are considered damage, and damage starts at 5 on the high end at PSA last I’ve heard. Safe to assume that’s what did it. It’s still a gorgeous card though.
a 5 on this tells me it is likely a small indent somewhere on the card + a surface flaw like scratching on the sensitive holo border. if you really cant detect anything I say crack it. Worst case you finally see the small dent once it is out of the case and you can keep it as a binder card, or it’ll still look mint and you can send it back
CGC has updated my status to indicate it’s shipped, but the status page hasn’t been updated to reflect any grades. Neither has the submission detail form it lets you download. Is this typical? This is my first time working with them.
yea, personally don’t think that would be enough to bump it to a 5. I have a 9 with a slight corner/edge situation, similar to that. it’s possible it’s a misgrade. Even if it does have an indent, I’ve definitely seen cards with minor indents get a 7 I’d maybe break it out of the slab to inspect it closer and agree with @candle if u see something, keep it as a clean binder copy
I had this happen on a recent order and it caught me off guard as well. Turns out it was just up-charges that came in not long after ai saw that on the tracker. Hopefully that’s all it is for you as well!
May I ask how sensitive PSA is when a card is submitted off the supposed tier list? Can they actually refuse to grade or will it always end in up-charge.
I want to do a bulk 18$ (200$ declared) submission but I would like to add Umbreon Alt Vmax 215 from Evolving skies to the same order. Now this card theoretically lies within 50$ (under 999$) tier so 2 tiers above bulk. I do not mind to have it sent back to me together with bulk order 3-4 months later and be up-charged for that particular card, I just do not want to do a separate submission just for that single card and double up on shipping back and forth + custom charges as I live in Europe.
What is an acceptable difference between the value of the card and submitted tier? Like if I send 1st edition base set Charizard with bulk tier, do they refuse to grade or will they just up-charge it?
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, I am happy to be pointed to a certain post / thread.
I send card in bulk all the time, and there is no problem, very often i also don’t get any upcharge, so I would say, send it in as bulk and thake the upcharge, if it come any.
(i’m from Europe also)
The only risk is that, the card will only be insured for 199$, so if PSA/Fedex loose you package, then a card with a value of 2000$ is not so fun to loose, and to recive a insurance off only 199
CGC won’t grade WotC promos with silver stamps (Electabuzz, Dark Charmeleon, etc) because they can’t discern if they’re real or not.
I am a bit taken aback that they have made a name for themselves verifying test prints of unknown origin but won’t put their name on a minor variant of an existing release.
