WOOHOO thanks!
i think i’ve also seen that ludkins is now polaris, idk tho, the psacard thing sounds better tbh lol
Am I wrong or the 18$ per card SPECIAL is still available at PSA website?
Ok sorry, I just see the option on the main page.
My $30/tier was entered into the system june 16th. Been on assembly for around 2 weeks now.
$50 tier entered 6/24/22 just moved to assembly.
I’m sorry for all the noob questions but when are grades available to view online.
Not until it is in the shipping stage (last step).
Some cross-grade data from my incoming CGC sub that I figured I’d share:
I’ve been buying quite a few PSA slabs that look VERY strong for their grade with the intention of crossing them over to CGC. These were the first ones I’ve tried but I have more in the queue (including some VERY exciting cards).
-
Swampert was the strongest PSA 9 I’ve ever seen in my life, and is a very deserving 9.5. It’s clearly a pack-fresh card and is very nearly as strong as my PSA 10 that I personally pulled.
-
The Mewtwo was among the strongest PSA 8s I’ve ever seen and was clearly a borderline PSA 8/9.
-
The Charizard looked mint as fuck in the PSA slab, so I assumed the reason it got a 7 was a subtle surface flaw. This turned out to be exactly the case. I thought there was a chance CGC would miss it and the card would get a 9 or 9.5, but CGC clearly noticed it (to their credit).
I also regraded several CGC slabs in that order, with the following results:
- CGC 9 Scyther ex – no change (this is the 4th (and final) time I’ve graded this Scyther and it’s gotten a 9 every time)
- CGC 9 Magmar ex – no change (this is the 4th (and final) time I’ve graded this Magmar and it’s gotten a 9 every time)
CGC 9 RS Manectric holo – no change (1st and last regrade)
CGC 8.5 AQ Jumpluff holo – +.5 (1st regrade, card was super clean and deserves the 9)
So yeah, nothing too surprising. I was hoping the Scyther and Magmar would upgrade since they are pack-fresh cards (I opened them myself) and are borderline 9/9.5 quality, IMO. Same with Manectric. The PSA slabs did exactly as I expected. Overall, my assessment across the sub is that CGC’s standards are pretty consistent and accurate. Not perfect, but solid, IMO.
Note: Nothing can be concluded from any of these data points; just sharing because I find these sorts of posts very interesting and figured others might be interested to see, too.
Congrats on the swampert! Awesome to see additions to the PC
Really appreciate these types of posts, @zorloth!
These were crossovers rather than cracking and submitting, right? If so, it appears that CGC is more fair and forgiving for crossovers than PSA.
Oops, I should’ve specified – these were all cracked then resubmitted. I have my doubts about grading companies’ ability to be objective when judging a card in a competitor’s slab lol.
Agreed. That’s why I was a little shocked at first. This makes much more sense!
nice work! why didn’t you opt for subgrades?
Most of the cards in the sub were for my PC (or potentially were depending on the grade), and I personally don’t care much about subgrades.
Drives me nuts how CGC slabs without subs don’t center the Pokemon name and set. Nonetheless thanks for posting your results!
Not quite sure what you mean. The lack of subs doesn’t change the text layout:
Regardless, no problem
I think @zork meant vertical centering
