The Giant Professional Grading Thread

I have the chance to acquire a few cards I am interested in, and one of the cards that is better condition overall also seems to have this pink ink dot on the back?

Will this affect the cards grade too much with PSA or BGS?

Thank you!

O well, I’m going to send it back and see cause I know I don’t work for PSA but I looked over that guy with intense lighting from every direction :sob:

You should probably send to a different company if you don’t want your time (and money) wasted

No, as long as it’s a factory defect and not inked

@rsths12 Moved your post to the appropriate thread.

Very true I like that idea a lot! If another company says it is indeed a 6 then I will accept it but right now I WILL NOT!

Hi guys, I have a few questions related to BGS submitting.

If a card is submitted without subs and were to theoretically be a perfect card, could it obtain the black label 10 being that it doesn’t have 4 subgrades to warrant that reward? Or is black label only possible to obtain for cards submitted with sub grades?

Thank you

@pokeethan22, you can still get black label if you submit w/o subs

THANKS

Is there any third party/middleman that does Beckett grading?

Ahh, hi all — I was just wondering as I’ve been browsing a few threads regarding grading companies — what would people describe as the advantages and disadvantages of grading with BGS, PSA, and CGC? Barring subjective views on labels and aesthetics etc, I’ve read that CGC previously didn’t have the best cases and doesn’t sleeve cards inside their holster, but does that stand true today as well? Just wondering what added benefit grading with PSA gives me considering their wait times are exponentially longer. Thanks again all!

Problems
PSA: Wait forever or pay $200
BGS: No online form, costs $120 if you want a reasonable turnaround time with subs
CGC: Can have lower resale value, but not that bad. Lower grades (6 and lower) aren’t like psa and are closer to bgs lower grades
Benefits
PSA: More people look for psa than the other ones, psa 10 sells for more than bgs 9.5 and cgc 9.5
BGS: Those 10s! Has a sleeve inside the case, black label, case is like a brick, very solid
CGC: Lowest Prices, fastest turnaround, clear cases

What’s the approximate wait time on express with all companies at the moment? I thought PSA express was still 3-4 months at the moment with standard being 8+?
Can you speak to the quality of the CGC cases or if they’ve started sleeving the card before fitting? My understanding is the only company that sleeves before encasing cards is BGS

BGS express- 2-3+ weeks
PSA: Approximately 2 months
CGC: express is 10 days and walkthrough is 3. Express is $30 and walkthrough is $50
The only company that sleeves is BGS.

So I was looking at pop reports for the FA mario pikachu promos, and noticed that the pop report for PSA is 9: 87 and 10: 532, but at BGS its only 9.5: 3, 10: 2 and BL10: 0. Similar pops for the other 3 mario/luigi promos.

Is there a reason that people aren’t trying to chase a BGS 10, or black label for these cards? Obviously PSA is generally preferred and quite easy to get a 10 with new JP cards, but would a BGS 10 or black label not be valued higher?

Submitting to BGS is a lot more expensive and if it comes back a 9.5 you’re screwed

Anyone grade with Beckett premium or express service recently? What was your wait time for either.
Generally do you get your cards back sooner if you choose no sub grades?

Turnaround time for Beckett premium has been consistent at 2 to 3 days. No sub-grades doesn’t affect the turnaround time as far a I know.

No one knows the exact answer to this. From my experience PSA has been very different in regards to what people are saying on here (2-3 months). You could get your order back in under one week, its merely roulette. However, id base it off of their website to get a could avg.

BGS 2 day is apparently rolling at expected times. Other than that i have heard people with 10 day order at 6 months so it kills me to see all the bgs shilling. but it is what it is, same case with them… you could have it back sooner than people who have been waiting for a long time.

Never used CGC or care enough to talk to people about it. Heard good things regarding turnarounds indirectly though
