Does anybody know how PSA treats lips on the edges of cards? I have this card (Japanese Neo Gen Lugia) that I am thinking of sending in but want to know how much that lip will impact the grade. The lip is not visible from the front.
Hey! Not sure if this is the appropriate thread to post this, but I just got an email from Ludkins with information about their new office in France for European collectors:
“We have been planning to open an office in France for our European customers, but Brexit and UK COVID lockdown have prevented us from getting it on time for our first 2021 sendoff. We hope to have it up and running by the end of the month, in time for the next send off”.
First time grading submitter: I have a few of the Ho-Oh/Lugia back poker cards that only Beckett grades, so I need to send some cards that way. I’d like to make it a 51-card submission for the decreased price, but I’m having trouble deciding on what to send. What’s the consensus on what should/shouldn’t get sent to BGS? I’m looking at Black Label candidates and Japanese cards that tend to grade well, but what are some cards you avoid sending/would rather send to PSA?
Just really looking for any tips in general lmao. Thank you!
Doing my first big PSA submissions and I have a few quick questions.
Can I submit several bulk PSA submissions in the one packaging box?
I’m doing this because I live overseas where there is customs duty over a certain amount, thus I’m trying to get each submission under the customs amount paid once they return, however I’m still looking to save on shipping to the US.
Second question which continues onto the first is, if I send several bulk submissions in the one box (i.e assuming they get logged and graded the same time), will PSA still ship my orders in a seperate box for each submission? Or will they also return my PSA grades in one box as I’ve sent them?
These two questions mean a lot for my submission so thank you in advance!
What do you guys think my Shiny Charizard GX will grade as? It has this small clear dot on the top of the card. Not sure what it is, it isn’t indented on the card. Looks like it may be a printing defect as it looks to be printed on the card? What I read on PSA’s official page was that they sometimes disregard small printing defects. What do you all think? Any response is much appreciated!
The centering doesn’t look that bad, so I can’t imagine PSA would dock two points if the rest of the card is mint. My guess is a 9 in that case, but I’m sure others here would know far better than me.
Something im trying to understand is how comparable a grade is from one set to another.
The biggest comparison for me is a PSA 10 from say Jungle which when ive looked at in detail, many of these cards have slight silvering around the edges, some of them have pretty bad silvering. Yet a dot of whitening in another set moves the card from a PSA 10 to a 9.
I dont understand therefore why a PSA 10 Jungle attains such a high value in comparison to a 9 grade if PSA are much more lenient due to silvering?
I cant think of any other examples but im just trying to understand this and whether there is some sort of understanding within PSA that any jungle holo has a more lenient allowance, anything modern in so and so set is much stricter to get in a 10.
Jungle has other problems like print lines that prevent most cards from getting the 10.
However why PSA is ignoring light silvering but goes buck-wild when they see a micro indent on the back corner is a question probably no one knows the answer to. It just kinda got established along the way I guess. “It is what it is.”
@kingboo64, I’ve never heard of PSA giving an otherwise mint card a 6 because of centering. And the centering on yours isn’t even that bad. If the rest of the card is 10-worthy, then it should get a 9, or an 8 at the absolute worst.
Weird. Maybe they saw something that they incorrectly thought was a dent/crease? If something is OC enough to get a 6, then I assumed it would get an OC designation (if it was 9/10 quality otherwise).
