cards are cheaper directly from Japan, but ease of acquisition of good condition is becoming more difficult as time goes on.
use bulbapedia and usually it provides the Japanese name in Japanese. Then just copy and paste. For complete sets maybe the term フルコンプ is what you want. I haven’t searched that before, so I don’t know how many people sell the complete set together.
as I said above, there is a lot of supply over here so if you have a middleman, which I can do, but sadly not right this second actually due to moving, but you can probably complete the set cheaper than using American eBay or American sellers. If condition is no problem, it is super easy to find cheap cards.
Broad pointers : Always be dubious of a cards listed condition. Often sellers don’t disclose every problem. I’ve spent top dollar often on cards and they tend to come with tiny dents or things not shown. Even when I ask the seller for confirmation of those damages. Bought a skyridge umbreon and the photos looked amazing, but I get the card and it is completely screwed up. The return process was atrocious as well, so I ended up just not returning it and eating my loss.
Occasionally I have seen complete Japanese sets for sale and they are always less than English unlimited (although maybe not for long). Most are from Japanese sellers even if they’re listed on eBay. I am apprehensive about the language barrier when it comes to assessing condition, however. I am big on condition. Even though I am a binder collector, there is a proximity to pristine I always pursue and usually have a conversation with every seller which would be difficult for me as only an English speaker.
Would it make sense to seek out completed sets as a “one and done” thing or are Japanese sets like English sets where your best best is a complete non-holo set then buying the holos one by one?
LMAO they uploaded a back pic as requested by comments. Have to assume this is like a PSA <4 and they are intentionally hiding something; no one is this oblivious.
I wonder if someone here has infos on the 2002 Meiji Versus cards ?
They seem quite scarce compared to the 1998-2000 versions, especially on the graded pop.
The one with lugia and Charizard fighting has such a beautiful artwork
Another topic: I just noticed that in the latest pwcc auction block, the single strike Tyranitar special art (psa 10) sold for $492, while 2 Tyranitar from Neo 2 (Tyranitar’s rookie card, psa 10) sold for $290 and $295 respectively on May 30th (not pwcc though). Make of that what you will. Personally, I don’t see the logic in these prices.
Did you mean to relink the same listing? This guy has indeed had it for sale for several months and done same shady shit with other high end cards, but this is the first I am hearing of a scam.
Is it really the same guy that’s been trying to sell across multiple Japanese platforms for months? Could’ve sworn they got banned from Yahoo the last time they canceled a sale.
No, their sale of the 2017 Victory Decoration second place 1.8M¥ went through after second or third auction. Same group of sellers. Whoever has it on Magi now just a random drop shipper.
I managed to find this old listing page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m481048341 the pictures are very similar and has an identical background but much better quality. So it would appear they were banned from Yahoo. After the ban I remember them listing the No 2 on Mercari & Fril Japan along with the Victory Decoration but they took down the No 2.
Edit:@pbmagnet4, beat me to it, but I think it’s the same guy using a different account. The pictures aren’t quite the same just similar.
@lolzicost, @pbmagnet4, IIRC it’s not one guy. It’s a mainly Yu-Gi-Oh store with different middlemen working on behalf of them. They may not even own the card and are middling it here. Idk why they pull such amateurish tactics like they did with the Victory Decoration; their cards are rare enought to sell fine. With the Decoration they cancelled the auction the first time around when it did not go high enough. However it did eventually sell without issue. If you are interested in the card but wary of Yahoo I recommend messaging yang.bela first on Instagram and then wildcardcyclone on Instagram.
Gold victory medal from 2005, the 2005 version is a lot rares than the other victory medals right? First time I have seen this one. Lookt to be in good shape too.
