The eevee ponchos seem so bland compared to the pikachu ponchos. Did consider buying them a few months back but I think they look uninspiring…
The mario/luigi set on the other hand is another level
Still closely following the mario/luigi promos. Been keeping track of the PSA 10 pops of the Mario/Luigi set…seem to go up by about 20 or so each month…
20 of each of the four cards or cumulative? Also it makes sense opening boxes as the market stands. If you get two 10s you have 6k value if you leave it sealed 3-3.5k. I cracked a couple boxes recently but have a couple sealed as well.
Look at the bidding history it’s obvious this was shilled. This ended with a buyer with 100% bidding activity on the seller and they kept constantly bidding it up. This jolteon ended on auction October 30th for 20.1k and never got paid. It’s been listed numerous times. This is as sketchy as it gets lol
I have a question - how do people determine prices for Japanese cards that don’t have an established market?
For example, with Rage of the Broken Heavens (XY9) in Unlimited I’ve found the prices to be all over the place, assumingly because people in Japan either don’t know nor care about the difference between 1st Edition and Unlimited. I’ve found secret rares for 5 dollars but then some sell for 70, but they almost always stay within the scope of what the 1st Edition’s go for despite being incredibly more difficult to acquire and locate.
It took me over 3 years to acquire six cards in Unlimited and I was able to pick up an extra with an interested buyer. He asked me for my “crazy” price, but I don’t even know what a fair price looks like.
Anyone have experience or a formula they follow for these kinds of situations?
Most Japanese sellers and buyers do not care if Unlimited has a lower print, and in fact prefer 1st Edition. The exception is cards with absurdly low Unlimited prints such as e-series. Even then, plenty of times sellers list at same price because they are not aware of the premium placed by the Western market to think to check if their common cards are Unlimited or not. Many of the craziest deals people have gotten over the years such as a big purchase of sealed Unlimited WCP packs have been through luck rather than sellers asking a premium. This has started to change especially with e-series as people grow aware of demand.
As for a formula, if it is not a card with an established premium, eg Expedition Era Charizard or Pichu, I would request twice the price of 1st Edition, depending on the pop report discrepancy. Are we talking 5-10:1 1st Ed : Unlimited graded in the PSA pop report, or something like 30:1? If the discrepancy is high enough, the acquisition is such a pain in the ass that asking for 5x more starts becoming reasonable
Has eBay ever spoken about flagging stuff that looks shilled? Also it’s weird that something will show in “sold/completed” on ebay search that was never paid. Seems like an algorithm could identify likely shilled sales in some way and give a message like “note: suspicious bidding”.
Yup. I reset all my card listing on ebay to higher prices. Last time I didn’t do this and people cleared out my shop clean because my prices were market price…
should’ve done this the first time around as well. I got wiped when my prices were way below market because of the sudden spike but you never really know when a spike is coming or not. Now i like to raise my prices every time someone asks what’s the lowest id take for a certain item
You guys think prices are going up? I’m thinking prices are going down. People seem to be choosy about buying and looking for a deal, at least the items I’m looking at.
That’s the key here imo, certain cards just don’t appear as frequently and don’t let you “look for a deal”. And if you do, you miss out. Doesn’t have to be the trophy tier either, in this Japanese thread especially there’s lots of small-ish stuff that hasn’t fluctuated significantly at all in the last 3 years and I see no indicators why it should, apart from sudden exposure influxes.
I agree with you. I’m trying to get some those items before they’re no longer available too. I’m just saying that I am noticing an overall shift in the market, but I may be off. I think the hype is dying down.
