Just paid for my first Buyee package to be sent to me from their warehouse. For those who have done this, do you know if they want a signature when it gets delivered? Just wondering if I need to worry about being around the house at that time (US address). Also my first package from DHL ever. Anyone mind sharing what their usual shipping cost is through Buyee lately? I got charged $200 +$50 handling for 10 packages and just had no idea what to expect or if this was high or low or normal.
you get an email from DHL (if you have an account I think) and it lets you sign for it online. I also don’t think many companies are enforcing signatures right now given COVID
Buyee charges stupid rates for shipping imho. I constantly am paying them $200 for shipping when it feels like it should be $100. They are pretty wasteful with their packaging (I’ve had 1 card shipped in like a 12x16x8 box) which doesn’t help. I use remambo now mostly and the shipping fees seem much more reasonable…
I also really don’t like that buyee limits your packages to $2,000 max when consolidating… introduces additional wasteful shipping
It all comes down to what you bought. Have had 3 packages sent with DHL through Zen/Buyee. for a smaller package with a few cards it’s usually around 30$. Had a pretty large package at 30x30x70 (cm) and 7kg, but that was only 200$. This is sent to Norway though, but pretty sure prices are the same or more for us in Norway so 250$ sounds like a lot. Not sure about signature, but you should be able to plan the delivery. I get a link on my phone which let’s me choose how I want it delivered.
It feels like shit but they dump the domestic shipping charges on you at the end when you’re paying for international shipping. So, if you were, say, getting a shit ton of packs from Pokemon Center Online in separate orders to get the Charizard promo, you would be hit with 550 yen for each separate order you made. THEN you pay for DHL shipping to you at the same time. I feel like shipping on Zenmarket is cheaper in general but they have their own can of worms with the deposit fees and everything.
Thanks for the info everyone! @miraclegro, I will check into zenmarket. Nice interview the other day you had. Cool collection you’ve got! My order was lots of pokemon center purchases and then a separate yahoo auctions purchase of charizard promos. Interested to see how big of a box they shipped this all in.
Another problem I should mention with Zen is that you don’t have access to Mercari and Pokemon Center Online. I normally just use Zen out of comfort but specifically for the Charizard promo I switched to Buyee because I had to. There are other ones that people have mentioned that also worked. Either way, shipping from Japan to Japan and then Japan to you is not cheap!
you could always use Tenso for Pokemon Center Online too, I prefer this as I can sure when I want to place the order, the item is actually in stock. going thru buyee requires their buying procurement process. just a personal preference
This is probably good advice. My friend wanted to use the Dream League packs for the promo order. He placed the Buyee order while they were in stock and by the time Buyee processed it they were out of stock. I didn’t personally run into this issue but there you go.
Correct. I specifically waited until all my packages had arrived in their warehouse and had them all and then pressed “select all” and “consolidate orders” or however they worded it.
I wasn’t quite sure where to put this. I almost had a mini heart attack when I came across this listing on Mercari. It’s for a Unikarp, but upon closer inspection I’m pretty sure it’s fake. The font on the test is too thick and blurry and the front border of the card looks like a solid yellow instead of the usual gold border. Anyways, I wanted someone else to help me make sure I’m not crazy.
I’m not really that surprised about this one. Lillie is a super popular character and as we know people love their waifus. Also, I think this card is a Japanese exclusive, so along with the English “FA trainer boom” demand and prices for this card probably went up as well. I’m glad I got a few copies of these when prices were low.
True that, I guess I was more surprised by the quick jump in price. Feel like the price is “justified” though considering it’s release as a promo. Got some copies as well from the Pokemon Center on my trip to Japan so they hold a special place in my heart cause of that haha.
My apologizes if this isn’t the correct place for something like this. I feel like I’ve seen 151 threads where fourthstartcg locks it and links the giant market thread
I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Japanese-only awesomeness and a bit overwhelmed. Is it fair to assume that highly sought after raw items like Munch and Mario Pikachu promos from Japan would have already been screened for ones that could be graded as a 10? I think I read in another post that Japan isn’t as big on graded cards, but it seems like the sellers have got to be aware of the price premium a 10 commands. I look at pop reports for these promos and see fairly high percentages for 10’s. I know that I’m years late to the game at this point. I’m trying to gauge if I should continue to try and find a raw card that appears to be in fantastic condition or if that is a bit of a fool’s game. The logic seems like it points to it being difficult to source 10 quality raw cards, otherwise, people would be snatching them up and paying the premium to get them graded quickly.
I have definitely noticed the availability on ebay starting to dwindle, if we don’t see this set come out fully in english (particularly for the gold charizard and pika) I can see the price of boxes absolutely blowing up.
The set was released 16 months ago in japan and we still don’t have a full english release or even any kind of word. And with pokemon already struggling to keep up with demand of current sets I am starting to think they just might not bring the set over. Even hidden fates wasn’t nearly this bad as it took about 9.5 months to come to english.
