日本のマーケット部分 The Giant Japanese Market Thread

glad I’m not the only one preaching  Getting scammed on yahoo auctions is too easy, and I’m seeing it a lot more now. and buyee will just flip you the bird if you try to return it. I’d add to that - use something like Remambo or J-Subculture if you can, they will actually help you contact the buyer and set up a return in the event something isn’t right.

This is another common “scam” that’s popping upon Yahoo Auctions now. (not really a scam I guess, more of a shady listing practice)

Buyer lists a box as retirement sale, 4000 cards, shows the top cards which look very good. I bought one that looked like a nice collection with Rocket cards, Base cards, etc. Opened it and it was clear those cards were planted on the top for the photo  The whole collection only had 1 rocket card and it was on top hehe.

It’s a bit naive to think they wouldn’t do that, but I have hit hard on some of those auctions too. Just something to watch out for!

I mean, that happens on ebay too. I don’t know why you would buy a blind lot from a random person on the internet and not expect to get at least partially scammed.

Anyone know when using buyee theres a way to contact the seller? I bought multiple things from a seller and on the details page i see that everything but 1 thing has been shipped. seems a suspicious lol they marked it as shipped 2 days ago btw

I had a seller ship something 10 days late (it just arrived at their warehouse today) but I had to send them a message.

faq.buyee.jp/?lang=en
“What will happen, if my won auction item does not arrive at Buyee warehouse?”
Then inquire about the said item

If something seems shady I would request a picture so it puts it on Buyee and the seller and not you.

Edit: I don’t think you can directly contact the seller. I would have Buyee inquire for you

for sure, something about buyee though that makes people lose their sense of judgement  just wanted to be sure people were thinking about this stuff

I 100% agree! I love collecting the JP vending series cards. The quality and artwork is awesome. I have been looking at sheets as well - my only concern is them not being able to peel off given age. not sure if that is a legitimate concern or not

It’s not

Peeling off wouldn’t even be so bad. After all, you still have the card. Imagine if instead the cards will get stuck on the sheet permanently!

Jk, personally I wouldn’t worry about that at all. On the other hand, they’re so fun to peel off that they wouldn’t last long with me to begin with.

I think a lot of people are just buying these as they come no matter the price. These cards are getting rarer and rarer to find in mint ungraded condition, so a lot of collectors are probably just buying psa 10 copies just because they’re slowly getting harder to find compared to even a year ago. Especially with the 2020 boom, a lot more people have joined the hobby and these are obviously very popular cards. I think yea prices are slightly jumpy today, but long term it’ll just be an upward graph.

Hi, new poster but been lurking the forum for a while. What do you guys think of the 2020 Player’s Ceremony card? Buying 1 at the moment but contemplating a second copy, just not sure how hard it was to get considering they lowered the required points from 120 to 30

With covid, there’s less competitions so it’s harder to accumulate points. That’s why they lowered the threshold to get this card. It may be more rare than the other ones. You can check Japanese site prices like card rush or mercari to see what the card is valued in Japan. I find that more useful than looking at eBay in gauging a Japanese cards value or rarity. Currently it’s more expensive than the 2019 copy but less expensive than the 2018 one. Also, Youtubers have already made videos about this card, so unfortunately the price is not going to be low. This card was 200 usd originally. The best thing to do is to buy the cards earlier

With the 25th anniversary approaching, Any thoughts on the 15th anniversary pikachu? I love the silver background where pikachu looks like flash lol. Menacing and the same time amazing and blazing. Not to mention the limited print run and great release. Anniversaries are always an exciting time

The card has less than 450 psa 10, for modern standards thats very low. For example pikachu’s pop is about double.

Definitely a great card. I might be wrong, but this may be the first pikachu textured full art. Also reminds me of the new pikachu v full art.

Another potential scam. Been seeing this a lot lately. This is the same seller who listed shiny crobat V boxes and snuck in the text “they are opened, no cards included”.

I’ve notice the same type of text/wording on a bunch of these across sellers for huge auctions. And they all do the same thing - show the mario / charizard boxes, make you think it’s worth a huge fortune. one sold on sunday for like $14k… I wonder what ended up happening with it.

FWIW I always ask on buyee if they are sealed or not. They usually say “the cards are in them”…
here’s another one that looks similarly sus buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/l663229317

B&W era definitely had the best full arts. No comparison

I’ve been watching these as well. Is there a reason people aren’t buying the sealed Mimikyu and then grading it themselves? It seems like 3/4 are grading as 10’s at PSA and getting a 9 doesn’t seem terrible (from a cost standpoint).

Edit: answered my own question. Didn’t see the bottom of the bag.

Surprised this Clefairy/Lillie card is suddenly gaining traction as they were 20$ a couple of weeks ago. Seems like they are at 100$ raw and about 500$ in a PSA 10 which is pretty ridiculous when 363 of 385 graded cards are 10s
