I need your expertise!
I purchased a Japanese lot and it contains a computer error card with the white rocket symbol. I understand it is not the corocoro version but is it necessarily a kamex mega battle version or is there another white version ?
Well I don’t have any experience with this card, but a quick Bulbapedia search tells me any version but the Kamex trophy version should be glossy, so if it’s not, that a good sign. Maybe someone with a copy in posession can help you.
Wow that also looks to be in great condition - if the card itself is legit (maybe compare printing patterns/cardstock to real oldbacks with your phone camera zoomed in etc.) you got yourself a mint trophy card
I’m having trouble finding details around this, but does anyone see future potential value in any of the Japanese gym tournament promo cards? How many were given out? I would guess these might be more limited than most other modern releases if they were only given at tournaments, but then I can’t tell if they were offered elsewhere too.
I’m looking at some unopened packs such as the SM-P #9 or #10 promo packs. There seem to be plenty for sale at low price which is why I wondered if they were overprinted.
I’m thinking about these as something to hold onto for 10-20 years that won’t cost much now, but could be in short supply later.
Just a quick heads-up for anyone buying in Japan, specifically on auction: Some sellers use quite deceiving methods to make you think they sell something they actually don’t.
If a listing shows multiple cards, but the description says something like “1入札1枚になります。”
which may translate to “one bid is one”, “it will be one bid” or something, you will only get one card. With the last translation, that’s not immediately clear.
Another thing is “lucky bags”, where the seller lists an expensive card (or multiple) and some crappy ones for auction, but the description says that only if you win all auctions, you get all the cards auctioned - if not, you get a random one which will obviously not be the expensive one.
Third thing that’s happening more often large lots of empty booster boxes, again that information is hidden somewhere in the description.
And lastly, fake cards are on the rise on yahoo - that includes fake non-holo trophy cards which, combined with yahoo’s crappy picture quality, makes them more dangerous than they should be.
