日本のマーケット部分 The Giant Japanese Market Thread

Japanese is great, buy it. Don’t buy English, the cards feel like cardboard and you can even read them which is really uncool and you’re an uncool person if you buy them. You don’t want to be uncool, do you?

The people who tell you that Japanese cards aren’t as desirable are the people who are buying Japanese cards.

Any set, especially generational first appearance sets, done in japanese will look better. I can stare at an english and japanese 151 set, english being mint and japanese being played, and the colour, artwork, feel of the binder page, and many other subtle things fall in the japanese’s favour. Very few instances would i prefer english, were money not involved probably none.

Just so it’s out there, I feel obliged to remind y’all that there isn’t such a thing as “Japanese WOTC”.

btw, quick question regarding the 2000 New Year Present Gyarados Jumbo. Do all cards have an individual address printed on the backside from when they were originally given out?
I’m a bit confused that all listings I find have the backside covered or not shown at all, presumably due to the sellers not wanting to reveal said address?

No one’s buying that. Japanese cards are not worth the cardboard they’re printed on!

I feel like it’s already grown a lot, like the exclusive promos. I am pretty much happy with the disconnect, JP is much stable than the EN counterparts.

“You take the blue pill… the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill… you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”

Exactly, the stability was so relaxing. No need for anxiety over volatility and the whole 2021 “Pokemon is skyrocketing/in a bubble/plummeting/dead” discussion, you wouldn’t even notice with most cards - especially with most exclusive stuff.

Thought this was kinda neat, the Melee! Pokemon Scramble promos were listed all together, which is the first time I’ve seen this.

Super cool promo only distributed to 100 people so definitely going to keep my eye on this. This might be one of the rarest campaign promos?

Wow I can’t believe that Eevee is finally for sale. $18k seems kinda cheap for the set of 3.

Just as a follow-up to this, another of the same card went for even more last week, and from a smaller seller with a worse listing (foggy/blurry pictures)

So definitely not feeling or seeing a devaluing of these but rather the opposite

Is there a reverse-Buyee where people in JP buy used stuff from US?

Is there something like e4 for collectors in JP?

Finally got my Stamp Promo Box from my cousin who lives in Japan! She was kind enough to also get the additional stamp set, definitely looks very nice together as a complete set. Really enjoy the holo effect on the stamps that come inside the promo box.

Though the sample size is small, from what she told me she and two other friends entered the lottery and two were selected.

Congrats! And kudos to your cousin for including the other sheet of stamps.

Thoughts about the 2009 knockout battle victory medals?
The 1st place typhlosion in psa 10 has a pop of 48, not too much over the master scroll, yet priced at ~600$.
Are people sleeping on this?
