日本のマーケット部分 The Giant Japanese Market Thread

Hi Everyone,

I’m sorry if this is something that has already been clarified or if a Japanese seller could inform me, but I do enjoy collecting the occasional stamps. Is there a way I could buy just the stamp sheet online as a non-Japan resident? I know you need a special license but I am not sure if sellers are even separating out the stamps from the box other than legal license reasons.

Is there a certain cost you are looking for because the sheets themselves are on eBay for $80 USD but I’ve seen them as low as $60 USD.

You don’t need a license to buy it, you need to a license to sell it. So as long as your middle-man accepts the order, then you can use all the usual outlets that allow it but it looks like Yahoo is the best bet. I see a lot on there.

I guess I would say considerably cheaper haha. I feel like if I’m a 1/3 of the way there I would just buy the whole box for 250 at that point for the cards too. But looking around the 15-25 range, but I guess that will just take time with more released.

My local scalper/reseller selling at $240 USD per box.

Only 79, 979 left. Get 'em while they’re hot!

How did they get so many??? I bought a few more of these. Seems like the price and supply has been stable past 2 weeks

It is an all metal body but an oldie from 2009. It’s been great, I love it.

Ahh that’s a real shame. You’ll just have to console your masses of case-less Jungle boxes

I have no idea too. I wonder when Japan Post will release the rest of their stocks. Looking forward to getting more boxes at cheaper prices.

Since they are reselling them for $240, then they are first probably buying them on Yahoo Japan. Buy for 20,000 yen + sell for $240 = profit.

Stamp box promos still climbing…

I was sitting here waiting for them to dip when they were 130…

Trying not to fomo but I don’t wanna miss out on these if they’re never gonna dip below what they are now

I’m going to make a bold prediction and say they won’t ever dip (at least not significantly), but instead continue to climb in value.

In my circle of friends and family, 30 of us entered the post office lottery and only 4 of us won. That’s anecdotal evidence, for sure. But I’m confident in saying that demand far outstripped supply.

Overpaying slightly for something that you’re going to keep for 5 or 10 years+ doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Relatively speaking they aren’t hugely expensive either. Just wear a jumper and eat instant ramen for a month lol. No not really but I would say go for it. Nothing to lose really.

Tell that to my partner lol

One thing to consider although I think it’s unlikely is that the original pokeguardian article mentioned possible additional print runs.

I think the cards will reach a max price (maybe a little higher than now) and will trend down to a price where they will settle. Just my guess.

I will pace my purchase for stamp box. Already bought a few boxes. Will wait for price to go down before buying a ton more. Otherwise, ok to let that few boxes on hand climb in value.

The Pokemon Company might reprint the cards, which would obviously level out or even gut the price.

But I highly doubt Japan Post will reprint the stamps. It’s not just that a reprinting would represent a major disruption to the philatelic community. Stamps have an assigned monetary value, and can’t just be printed (or reprinted) on a whim.

And really, the stamps are what make this set unique and desirable.

As a pointless side note, it’s amusing how literally no one mentions the Family Deck that is also included :joy:

I should probably post this in the “unpopular opinions” thread … but I absolutely love the Family Deck.
