Is it not due to the fact most people have not received product from Japan yet? As well as the regular box not containing the classic collection cards.
In my eyes the regular English release is superior to the regular Japanese release.
I would suggest stocking up on the promo packs before touching the set boxes.
It’s hard to see a long term market for the promo packs since they’re searchable tbh. I was lucky to get mine from a reputable retailer with the booster boxes, but anyone buying on the secondary market from unknown sellers is asking to get scammed.
The 25th Anniversary Collection Special Set (S8a) as sugested somewhere above here seems like a really nice middle ground.
Contain 5 packs and 1 promo pack and the box is sealed so no searched packs!
That’s why I think the special set box is the go-to Japanese item. You get a sealed box with 4 regular anniversary packs and 1 promo pack that hadn’t been searched that could have any of the 25 classic. I honestly didn’t know about them until yesterday. I thought you were given a separate promo pack at purchase with the boosters. Now seeing the format of the release, I think those little boxes are fantastic.
I can’t tell if these are actually sealed or not (or if they come with some kind of tamperproof sticker). Do we know? The presence of a hole to place on retail rods would suggest not. If they are, then I agree, the best sealed item so far without a doubt (apart from the Gold ofc.)
I was concerned about that too but it appears like tampering may be evident if it occurs, depending on the adhesive, but unclear until I have one in hand.
Edit: literally looked at every listing for good pics to get an idea, but all I can gather is it’s a small piece of clear tape on the top sides and bottom middle.
Got a link to any pics of what they come in? I’m UK based so limited on avenues to procure these but all the stock/listing images show the component parts and not the sealed “box” or package. Makes me worry that you get the items separately, and hence eliminates the ‘searchable’ promo pack mitigation. I’m confident you’re right, if it’s being marketed this way, but would appreciate any pics you’ve seen.
EDIT: Ignore, have just seen an eBay listing with the box ‘in hand’. Though it doesn’t appear to be wrapped, rather a box with flaps/lid. It’s not clear from the listing I’ve seen if the lid is glued closed or just folded closed, which could cause validation issues on non-searched packs.
I would be astonished if 100,000 of the stamp cards were released. That is a lot of supply. The statement about the population of japan is irrelevant. There are 3 times as many people in the US, Base unlimited zard had roughly 100,000 copies printed, plus its the most popular pokemon card, yet they are always available. Hell even cards with less than 100 printed appear for sale, numerous times.
Patience is a virtue. People who have already waited are in a better position than a month ago. I just wouldn’t be surprised if there are more to come, as the current supply is not indicative of a 100,000 release.
A seller told me he’s going to the “Pokémon store” on Sunday to try to get more stamp sheets he was selling separate from the box. I was confused what he meant. Does anyone know if there’s been word to release through the Pokemon Center in some form?
Maybe he meant he’ll shop on Yahoo Japan to obtain more.
Not to be “that guy”, but 100,000 base unlimited zards seems like a really low number. That would imply only ~125,000 boxes worth of packs released for base unlimited which was one of the most printed sets ever. Not trying to deflect from the main point of the post and I obviously could be wrong.
Supply trickle for the stamp box is possibly because you have one month to collect the box from the post office so there is no huge rush to collect it. If you win, you are guaranteed a copy as long you physically go to a post office by November 30th. People be busy out here working yo, not everyone has time to spare. Wait until the weekend.
In my case, the post office I chose was a two stop train ride from my home. So if you’re just a casual collector and working late (like most white collar people in Japan,) it probably isn’t convenient or feasible at all to go and collect it during the week.
