The Giant English Market Thread

Yeah. I decided to finally pull the trigger.

Damn I didn’t have time to win the lottery :sob:

Why tf is the Bubble Mew nearly $700 on TCGPlayer now?

It’s like there are endless targets for whoever tf is manipulating this shit to choose from. How is there still so much money after all the other pumps of all kinds of stuff from tag teams to vintage to sealed modern to Celebrations crap to modern promos….

Who the hell knows. The art is 10/10, don’t get me wrong (I own several copies), but it has no business being this expensive.

Then you have Alt Arts from SW&SH sets that are just as good, and they sit at a fraction of a price with abyssmal pull rates. Looking at you, Celebi V.

Personally, ā€œstonks modernā€ is now my currency to trade for older stuff

I was surprised to see the 151 mew UPC promo selling for 60-70 on tcgplayer

I think when pump is done, the money stays in the hobby. Why not do the same thing if you keep 500% returns

The mew is the current flavor. Swsh alts also had their pump but supply is simply too large to sustain prices like that.

These kinds of comparisons always make me believe there will be a sharp pullback in both modern and vintage cards.. again

There has to be right? But what I don’t understand is how it’s even inflating at the rate it is currently.

I suppose if they really are organized they can flip the target cards and move onto the next without losing anything but that just seems like it’s asking too much. Can a group be that organized? But I still don’t see how they can target a sector, Pokemon, whatever and then everything starts to rise…

For the longest time, I really struggled with this idea and just how irrational the overall current market is. Then, a few months ago I had an epiphany: I’m trying to apply too much logic to the situation. The market is extremely irrational and I’ll never understand it because of that fact, but thats okay.

Take advantage of the irrationality and find inefficiencies to exploit.

whyd this go for so much?

double 10 subgrade, = people think it can psa 10? i feel like it would need one of the 10s to be a surface 10 to have a shot there

i paid about 6k for that in a psa 10 about a year ago i wouldnt even pay 1k for bgs 9.5

Crazy price, cool card though. I snagged a psa 5 for 150,- earlier this year at a cardshow with 2 swirls

There is an insane amount of hoarding sealed packs going on. Prismatic Evolutions had massive packs released the past few weeks through Costco and Sams Club, with most stores getting 1-2 pallets every other week.

The supply of singles and market price hasn’t moved in the past few weeks like it should have. Gotta be most people saving the packs for retirement, lol. Congrats, you did what everyone else is doing.

This sale is wild to me. A PSA 10 hasn’t sold in ages and this is already way above the last sale price before the current boom. PSA 9s are going between 1.5k - 2k so it’s just baseless speculation that doesn’t take into account longer-term historical data (which makes it an apt reflection of the current market and consumer behaviour).

all the wannabe rudys over at r/pokeinvesting prolly

If it was a PSA 10, the owner would have submitted to PSA instead of BGS

I didn’t say I thought it would get a PSA 10
