Pretty sure the Costco 151 UPCs have sold out by now. @needszeebs
I haven’t seen 151 at Costco in a little while, sorry guys! I picked up some product for people who asked
I remember a lot of people saying the English version was going to be ‘worthless’ compared to Japanese because of the lack of Master Ball reverse holos. But what I couldn’t help but notice is the release was a lot different than Japanese with the tiny booster boxes and UPCs and other small promos, so the supply side is sort of lacking in comparison to Japanese.
So no surprise that some of the cards are booming. I would never pay that type of price, but I can sort understand why some would. Seems like this one was underappreciated by the market, especially where S&V hasn’t really been nearly as good as SWSH across the board and less incentive to buy a lot of the sets so far.
Hey, I have a couple of packs of Team Rocket booster packs, the set that came out in 2000. Do I sell now or wait in till next year when the Team Rocket set comes out?
Ask yourself about the opportunity cost and your goals. Do you need the money now? Do you need/want to purchase something else? Are you okay with the packs potentially losing value over the next year?
Cheers, thanks for the reply, pokecollectoramy. I need to think about it
Some big items listed again on altxyz
And a bunch of Beta playtest slabs again including a charizard and pikachu. I also saw an Alpha prototype beedrill. There maybe more in the auction lot, not sure
Hey guys, noticing this card continuing to rise.
What do we think about a newly released card doubling it’s price 4 days post release?
unsustainable.
That’s all I gotta say 'bout that
What did the big ol fat rainbow rat in VV peak at? I wanna say like 1200$
It’s like 120$ now
FOMO is one hell of a drug. Keep a level head. This card will be printed in the tens of thousands over many months. Set a reminder for yourself in six months; I guarantee you that some other card will have caught everyone’s attention by then (and likely earlier!).
This is just how ultramodern Pokemon chase cards behave. Expect a dip in attention and value as supply ramps up and new sets/promos are released over the coming months.
Is pikachu ex playable? I know its pikachu but i am a little shocked this card is stonking as hard as it is. Pikachu has some really fantastic cards and this one is just not really doing it for me
Definitely not playable.
I think it’s just become an icon for the people craving a chase card and a ton of new people entering the hobby. I just had someone today, who had no previous interested in Pokemon cards, ask me how to buy Surging Sparks.
This is what I always think when modern is going crazy at release. I may want the cards, but time for the most part will do wonders for the price I acquire them at.
Are there extra copies of these ‘Champion’ stamped Champions Festival cards being sold? I’ve seen a lot pop up recently and either someone bought out the players or there’s extras in circulation.
From what I gather on bulbapedia, there’s only 8 tournaments but 4 have been sold on PWCC
Two on Goldin live and closed
And the couple on eBay as well. Maybe some overlap on certs but still odd.
As far as we know, each champion received 2 copies each, which would result in 16 copies being given out officially.
PSA has 9 copies graded:
…and CGC also has 9 copies graded:
While this could be due to cracking slabs and resubmitting, I wouldn’t be suprised if some extra copies were given out to staff members or something…
I was exactly wondering the same… so many of these “champion” cards have been surfaced lately, while they’re supposed to be extremely rare and only given to the actual champions… And on the other hand we didn’t see any 2019 champion stamped cards on the recent auctions, which is also weird.
The bulbapedia page on Champions Festival under the Trivia section, there’s a blurb that confuses me even more:
POP report does give an overall feel and is in the vicinity of the overall quantity. Maybe someone went ham these years and bought out multiple winners?
The new McDonalds set is going to have Umbreon, Charizard, Dragonite, Eevee, etc
People on the internet think this will be difficult to collect because people will buy up cases before they actually release. This isn’t 2021, people need a chill pill. McDonalds cards have always been easy to collect (English specifically)
