With bgs anything under 9.5 is so hit and miss. My PSA 8 looks pristine compared to this. PSA will just always be better imo

Theres just damage everywhere on the back. Cant believe someone bought that card and someone else is going to buy it.

Yeah for sure, I feel like most people must not even look at the back and just assume its “near mint” based off the grade and bid anyway. When I clicked on it I couldn’t believe it. My PSA 5 has basically the same surface condition as well and the whitening still isn’t as bad as this.
@Charizard1020 - In my experience PSA 8 is almost always at least a BGS 9 or better. Some exceptions here and there, but definitely a higher/consistent standard. PSA 5 is usually going to be at least BGS 7-8 almost every time from what I’ve seen. This is by far one of the worst 8.5s I’ve seen though.

I remember doing a video awhile back explaining how beckett sub 9 grades aren’t consistent in pokemon. In the video I also had an 8.5 that would probably cross to psa 7-7 at best. To give them credit, I think they are more consistent with mtg.

Sun faded also always do worse. I do think it is cool in this case as it most likely was an awarded copy.

You guys must be joking, that’s a good looking card, the artwork is on the front and it must be mint front to have overall weight 8.5
While it is refreshing to hear about considerations for regrading 1st edition base charizard with PSA, pretty sure the opposite and psa is losing market shares with any 1st base zard grade considerations. Could be price to grade/overcharge and receive damaged zard back 3 scores lower.
Overall it balances out. Nice 8.5 but the ones that love the backs, that’s individual preferences 
psa is terrible

I honestly know people that buy clean psa 5 / 6 1st edition charizard cards, crack them and send them to Beckett and most of the time they get them back 2 grades higher.

Yep. Any PSA card with a small dent is worth sending elsewhere since other companies don’t care as much. The whitening on the copy in this thread though…WOOF, that shouldnt be more than a 5 anywhere
