I posed this question to him and he claimed he had 4 “pokemon guys” confirm its authenticity. So, who knows who that actually was or if that even happened.
3:00 - Chris on Pokemon 11:00 - Where the money will what ever they will raise by breaking the box 18:00 - Whether $375k trade on card box is good or not 24:00 - Chris sharing his Trade
he has no idea what hes talking about from the 2 mins i’ve listened to. saying logan paul spent 150k for one, but a better condition sold for 250. wut. and then starts talking about charizard but not sure how to pronouce it. interesting…
A bit hard to watch that video lol. Is he saying he can sell the contents for 600k$ because Logan paul bought his for 200k$ and sold packs for 11k each?. I’m curious what his plan is for the box open to generate the hype.
It actually makes me upset listening to this guy. The amount of naivety this man has and utter lack of comprehension of the economics of this particular collectible is baffling and frustrating to know that is what is being spread to masses that will take it at face value as fact.
The pokemon go boom brought increased prices and a larger collector base due to the popularity of pokemon accross the board, whereas this latest influencer influx was very targetted to potential and existing collectors.
Interest in Pokemon as a whole hasn’t really shifted.
A lot of influential youtubers are ushering in new collectors:
Channel - Subscribers Logan Paul - 22.5m What’s inside - 7mTGFbro - 5.85m FaZe Kay - 5.36m Zerkaa - 3.94mGraham Stephan - 2.47m
That’s 47m subscribers seeing this content in their subscription feeds regardless of if they view the videos or not.
This will have a lasting impact even when the market eventually retraces as there is now a new level of confidence in the market that has been built over time. The market conditions have radically changed.
This is a joke right? I thought everyone likes PFM for the most part. But I’m not on discord to see all the convos.
And yes Wannabe Mr.Clean aka Collectables Guro is a joke.
But like others have said just don’t let things bother you.
I tend to get a little aggravated myself when I see people who only care about selling cards and have little to no interest in the hobby. The word Investor or what should I invest in? Or is X a good Investment? Or even Can I have a free pre grade threads (What PSA grade would this get.) Yes things get annoying but I just ignore it.
One current thing annoying me is everyone buying all the Champions Path and charging double to triple price out the gate. I mean come on guys we can’t even wait a few months to a year before trying to make a triple flip on modern product on week 1!
But guess what. I’m smarter then your average drone. What happens everytime of year after Thanksgiving? The event usually goes on a week or two.
BLACK FRIDAY Deal’s!!!
Usually buy one get one half off at GameStop always with a ton of inventory in stock as well. So it looks like I’ll end up grabbing two Champions Path ETBs per $75. Screw paying $70-$90 plus for a freshly released product. Only a few weeks before black Friday? Come on guys let’s use our big brains haha!
Take it easy y’all I figured I’d clown and drop some knowledge on you guys while having a nice after work drink!
Biggest thing keeping me skeptical about the sustainability of this demand and these prices is the comparison to other hobbies. Every other collectible that I dabble in, and even non-collectibles like video games and certain clothes are experiencing all time high demand and prices.
Do we somehow expect every collectible on the planet to just keep up this demand even when things return to normal? I just don’t see how it’s possible for many if not most of these hobbies to not heavily retrace, both in demand and price.
Question is then, is Pokemon going to be the odd one out that sustains the new interest, or will it go the same way as the rest?
Probably going to opt out of buying most set cards for the time being, guess we’ll find if I made the right decision in a couple of months. To all the people in here convinced even unlimited base commons only have up to go from here, I wish you the best of luck.
@blueblastoise, I saw your user name and wanted to reply to you - I think it is important to make such decisions yourself. I myself have stopped buying base blastoises since June, as I thought they were overpriced back then.
Now that the prices have risen, while there is some degree of fear of missing out (even given my current blastoise hoard), it is even more important to stay principled. Interestingly, I never believed in buying base unlimited graded blastoises (only raw/stage-error graded), as base unlimited is so plentiful (like you alluded to).
Perhaps look for something else - there are so many ways to collect Pokemon, and there’s alot more interesting cards outside of base. I have written off WOTC & the ex-series/HGSS series due to goal completion/being priced out of more 1st edition blastoises, and my species/trainer collections are all up to date, so I’m at the stage of planning what next to do myself. Good luck!
I don’t think you will find many willing to show their hands. It would shatter the image of extreme scarcity. The people that do are looking for something, whether it be adoration, credibility, or advertisment for a future sale.
If none of these are relevant, they would be better off just sitting back and waiting and watching the market fall over itself while it simultaneously increases in price.
You know the Phantom Forces booster box hasn’t had a listing on ebay for a month, there is probably only 5 left in the world /s.
Speculating with any degree of accuracy on the number of boxes remaining from any set is pretty foolish.
