All WOTC sets are growing. I think ex Series will start to slowly follow. Jungle and fossil starts to become more expensive than certain ex sets, which doesnt make sence to me. When wotc becomes out of reach for the regular collector, people will search for alternatives, fx evolutions, ex Series, burning shadows and so on.
I had an unlimited base Charizard up for auction and BIN £750 last week.
Thankfully no one bought it I’ve since pulled it and just holding on to it. It’s been pregraded by Ludkins as a potential 7 which are around £1500 now
For the first time ever I now kinda regret never buying a NM Zard for my Base set for like 40-50 bucks a while back. For 1.5k, I would sell that sucker in a heartbeat and buy so much cool old Japanese stuff.
The problem though Muk is that 1.5k card might be worth 2k in just two weeks time. And you would be able to buy even more juicy japanese cards!
I’m pleased I pulled the sale when I did, i personally think theres alot more room for upward price trajectory.
I’ve noticed completed fossil and jungle sets are now £300 minimum and around 30% - 40% up from where they were a few weeks ago.
Rocket sets are in the ball park of £500 for standard non 1st edition.
I think these sets will carry on rising as base becomes unaffordable to the masses- played base sets are going over £1K and I’ve even seen a bundle of Base, Jungle and Fossil go for £2700
I think the neo sets will maybe be next after those.
The prices for a good neo Genesis set are in the region of £900+ and similiar price for Revelation, Discovery and Destiny.
Completed sets of the 2d generation are much rarer from what I can see. Theres certainly a limited supply.
I dont think the demand is there yet with them otherwise we would be seeing £2000+ IMO.
The year is 2020, humanity stands on the brink. A global pandemic threatens to destroy the world as we know it. Chaos reigns, humans scramble for the limited resources available for their survival. Fire is a necessity for survival and Charizards are becoming harder to find. While once the common man could afford a unlimited base set Zard, only the rich and powerful can now obtain such cards. In the darkness a hero comes forward with reasoning and logic. His name is Scott or as otherwise known to his loyal supporters as Ssssmmmmmpratttee!! Is he the last chance for those that call themselves trucollectors??
I have at least 3 raw charizards in better shape than that, I think someone would pay 3k + each for them if I wrote a very nice description catered to a more discerning audience. There are a lot of buyers out there right now with a lot of money and not a lot of wisdom with regard to true card quality.

Then sell them before the buyers realize that they spend way too much on bad condition bulk holos.
Or keep them another 2 months and wait for them to break 5 figures (who knows at this point).
I just can’t imagine that there’s still much room for growth for played binder cards before the shit hits the fan. But maybe I’m wrong.
I got my 4 year old son a couple of recent booster packs because he’s seen me sorting my old cards and wanted some. He honestly wouldn’t care about opening packs, rares or holos. He also wouldn’t keep them in great shape. I went looking for just some old bulk at a LGS and they wanted $10 for 125 cards (which you couldn’t look at). Is bulk really that expense? I figured it may be a couple cents a card for old commons that everyone has a million of, but don’t know what the going rate is and where to look. I just want him to have some cards to sort like Dad
The current buylist bulk rate is about 3 cents a card. So $10 for 125 cards isn’t that crazy for a brick and mortar retail store to be charging, IMO.
The bulk rate is going to vary a lot also depending on the era and condition. For NM 1st Edition WotC bulk, you could probably get 20 cents a card. For NM Unlimited WotC bulk, you could probably get ~10 cents a card. For NM e-Series bulk, you could probably get 25 cents a card. And for NM EX Series bulk, you could probably get ~7 cents a card. Anything after EX Series will probably be at the 3 cent rate. For played bulk, the prices are obviously going to be significantly less.
This is mad! I sold my spare copy for £275 back in April, at the time I think that could have been a record price. It also sat there for two weeks before anyone brought it!
I bought a PSA 7 Unlimited Zard for around 1500USD. Is that something I can shove under the bed for a few years or do I need to be on the lookout for volatility? There is quite a large number of them so I am worried about the demand being lower than the supply one day.
