Did they use chemicals to remove the damage?

Indeed!

Breaking the rules and posting IG, but the language here just made me laugh. If I can’t make money, it’s garbage.

@HumanForScale remarked it could be watercolor paint on top. I love the idea of them sitting there painting and going “yeah this looks good.”

I thought maybe it was fake…hoping it was fake. If its real and destroyed by some really dumb attempt to doctor it, that is incredibly sad. There are not many cards with formatting errors, and to see one of the OGs devastated is a sad day. I’ve spent my fair share of time carefully getting gunk off of cards, but permanent damage is permanent damage, what a travesty when people try to hide damage and ruin the card in the process.

Here’s one. This guy buys a card, then asks for pictures after he has already purchased the card. I shipped the card out being that it’s authenticity guarantee and card is near mint as described.

Card goes through and passes authenticity guarantee. He receives the card and somehow opens a case claiming there’s an indent down the entire back left side of card.

Here’s the photos he provided of the supposed indent. :skull:

I’m like great, he’s just going to damage it while it’s in the authenticity guarantee semi rigid and force a refund. In the end ebay sided with me.

I thought once an item passes through ebay authenticity that the transaction is done and there’s no returns. Theoretically the buyer can damage the item while it’s still tamper proof sealed in the ebay authenticity guarantee semi rigid and force a return. Luckily that didn’t happen in this case. I always looked at ebay authenticity as a great way to protect sellers, but it seems there may be a loophole

Nothing too serious, but quite a swing of emotions

If they think your pictures hide a defect, the buyer can return it directly to the AG program and they will review your card and compare to the pictures or scans you provided in the listing.

Some scumbags may photoshop or alter card scans or whatever to hide whitening or other issues the grader missed in the hopes of rinsing their hands through AG.

To be snarky or NOT to be… That is the question I ask.

Told him one just sold higher than I expected. Can’t be bothered to go check for himself.

 :helicopter: Call me a helicopter parent…

UPDATE - Really tempted to message to the other guy…

Anytime someone mentions a “price checker” site for “comps” you can just automatically assume they have no idea what they’re talking about.

Gotta love the return 24 days after the purchase because hey, I found the English version

Are you required to accept returns? I thought trading cards were final sale 3 days after delivery.

As a business seller to get the eBay Premium benefits I have to accept 30 days returns.

Most buyers have a brain and know better to exploit the system but you get the occasional genius here and there. In these instances eBay will side with you if you claim issues on the return.

Are you sure the eBay seller premium benefits are worth it when it comes to selling TCG on eBay? I opted to not buy into that, and just keep my return window at 3 days.

It must be an European thing? To be a top rated seller in USA and get the fee discount does not require returns for trading cards.

Must be, I am in the US and the only thing accepting the returns for 30 days gets you is an extra badge on your account, no further selling discounts.
