I always reply with “buy a cheaper copy”

FB marketplace broke this man
Sounds like an addict begging for one more hit.
It’s like people who are trying to get the best quality good for the lowest price forget that there are actual people on the other side of the computer screen.
The goal seems to be extracting value, above every other consideration.
turns out it was a real card, not sure why it was on an account a few days prior that got banned though…

I see a lot of perspectives from sellers here, so want to give another perspective as a buyer that make me avoid a seller entirely

There are copies of a card available for 50 dollars, seller has theirs listed for 100. I like the seller’s copy a tiny bit more so offer 60. “Buy the other copy, this will sell eventually”
-
Someone counters an offer I make. I sit on it. The next week, I send that offer. I get a counter 50 higher since the “market has changed, everything is always going up”
These are random ex era cards with stable sales over multiple weeks/months.
No one is obligated to sell a card if they don’t want to. But people act like it’s insane to sell something near recent solds. Not every card is constantly compounding in value
- Sounds like the seller had a better copy = higher price
- Sounds like they didn’t appreciate having their time wasted with the same offer made a week prior
Most sellers are doing it on the side, not a full time job. Buyers act like they are a business and can afford to spend 10 minutes of conversation every transaction. Would rather spend more time with the family than taking 20 pictures of one card, only to be offered 50% of market
- Sounds like the seller had a better copy = higher price
It was an old label, the other were newer, I like having old labels for consistency. It’s impossible to tell if the quality was higher or lower, even if it was higher, that wouldn’t 2x the price for a random card. Maybe if it was a gold star.

huh? I made an offer that was equal to their last counter offer, I did not send a repeat offer. It takes seconds to accept an offer.

Sounds like I might’ve struck a chord here. I made an offer over market, didn’t ask for any photos. Perhaps consider that your time might’ve been better spent with your family than strawmanning my post?
So sassy
Yeah, this is me, but I have no problem with receiving the same offer again, that I sent earlier. Ebay’s “you have 24 hours to decided, or this offer will self-destruct” is a little ridiculous, IMO. But, if the buyer offers the same thing multiple times, in close days, it’s annoying.
@dodge_44 I think Strawman is too strong here. eeveeteam gave his opinion on why he didn’t agree. He didn’t say all sellers would feel the same.
But, heh. I DO think you struck a chord. Some sellers really don’t like spending extra time because we get a lot of BS.
I don’t mind, as I’ve simply accepted it as a cost of doing business. Compared to the entitled crap I deal with at work most days, rude and entitled buyers are just another trashy consumer who think they’re owed something for free. What you said tho, is NOT rude or entitled, but it could be seen as annoying from some. I don’t think so, tho.
It’s actually 4 days now, which allows the buyer to play the market and potentially screw over the seller. I wish it was only 24 hours, either they want it or they don’t. No waiting trying to feel things out.
The dynamics of this hobby put most of the power in the hands of the seller. So while I’m sure there are frustrating sellers I see seller entitlement very differently from buyer entitlement.
You know, sometimes, it’s only 1 day… others it’s 2. Can’t say I’ve seen 4, but I don’t generally dwell on them. Weird…
Depends if it’s an offer sent through messages after having discussed price, versus one sent to every watcher.
Very true. There is a lot of seller entitlement in this thread
