The Fanatics Collect [formally PWCC] Megathread

definitely it is on the buyer, its no accident to win on PWCC. How rare is this particular card? I know very little about these promo/trophies? Seems like it could be a big ticket card to some degree

It’s very rare. Estimated amount of copies awarded in the hundreds. It’s one of those cards just owning at all is an achievement! :trophy:

Old cert checks out

Tbf this is damage from encapsulation.

I love that they haven’t fixed the high resolution image button yet. It works, but it’s hidden

Growlithe (Fukano) MTG Back sold for 8.1k: 1999 Pokemon German Base Set MTG Back Error Growlithe #28 CGC 8 NM-MT

In 2021, it sold for 25k on Heritage.

Dang, rarity for the sake of rarity isn’t enough I guess.

Pretty cool looking card but I can see why it dropped

There are also very little niche high end items from 2021 that didn’t lose 50-70% of their value since then. They were just way too high

Small annoiance:
1). Listed an item for $117 to get only 6% fee.
2). Estimated price changed in the meantime (I never know when they change this or based on what) so my card is no longer withing the 6% fee because it is no longer ā€œgreat priceā€
3). Item gets sold and I pay 14% fee.
I’m not going to check updated price and my listings every day, just keep my fee at 6% as the day that I listed it.
It’s only a few dollars so not a big deal, but I feel like thise could be handled different.

yikes!

Has anyone noticed this red warning banner recently?
Make payment now to maintain full app access.

If it is a reminder message then it should sound like a reminder message but it doesn’t.

Thoughts?

I just read it as stern language to avoid non-payers. They reduced the time to pay in the switch, so might be trying to draw more attention to it

Anything to deter non-paying buyers is a win!

From my design perspective the banner makes decent sense—the full access app section probably doesn’t and can be replaced with ā€œto bid on future cardsā€ for more clarity

The premier auction for Fanatics is STACKED this month :exploding_head:

Not sure I want any of the major items this month but hoping all of the hype and focus on the playtest cards will leave some steals in the main auction

This was the first auction I decided to bid in since PWCC switched its site over to Fanatics Collect. Pretty meh experience from the start for me. I decided to put in bids during extended bidding and couldn’t figure out why it wouldn’t let me for a couple minutes until I realized I had to zoom out to be able to see the button to confirm my bids.

Here is the confirm bids in my normal zoom.

And after zooming out.

Once I finally got bidding there seemed to be quite a lot of lag before the bids were placed. There were multiple items I bid on that would go to the next bidding block without my updated bid price. Then after 2 or 3 minutes in the block it would update with my bid from the previous time block.

Lastly, some of my bids must have gotten an error in one of the time blocks as there were items I was quite sure I placed bids on and then all of a sudden I saw they ended at the previous bid.

Overall, I am a bit disappointed as the site seemed slow and buggy during extended bidding. Still quite happy with my purchases though.

I had a similar experience with the lag. I don’t envy the developer there, it’s tough to maintain an auction house especially when there is such a large concentration of traffic at the most critical moments.

Here are some things I threw bids on and won this week.

The entire Pokemon market overall feels less competitive lately. Much easier to find things that fly below the radar than a year ago

I agree. Some of those cards aren’t great auction items, which inherently agrees with your point. Some of those purchases are pre 2020 prices!

I don’t mean to use these as direct examples since I agree this is pretty low end stuff. But just the vibe I’m getting overall is that a year ago it would be hard to find anything that felt like a ā€œdealā€ vs the last couple of months I feel like I’ve been getting discounts on auctions.

A stronger example is this which was almost 50% off the last auction price and I won it after forgetting I even bid on it

Or another example from pwcc

Compared to previous sales
