Best not to give the whole story unless I was selling;)
This is my feeling about the second of the two videos…
If anyone is more knowledgable than me on this feel free to correct me but here are my issues with this video. 1) My understanding is that this is a box that has been “authenticated” when no-one can even authenticate a regular booster box let alone a case. 2) One of the guys in the video goes on to say multiple times in his sales pitch for the camera that he guarantees that charizard will be worth over a million in a few years and guarantees this sealed case will be worth ten million. Not that there is a reasonable path for that happening, not that there is a chance and he lays out some possible paths and talks about the recent dips and prices and the possible risk, but that he guarantees it. Well I guess he is a wizard from the future who can guarantee that when you buy from him you will make money and he has found the only investment in the world that is truly a guarantee. Sounds exactly like collectibles guru from a few months ago and I think people should be very upset, and I worry people stay silent because this type of shilling benefits the value of our collections. 3) They act like they are happy that this guy has this box when he clearly has no idea what pokemon is and is just buying it for the investment or likely for the flex, which sends another bad message. I have no issue with someone selling something to the highest bidder but lets not pretend that selling this stuff to someone who barely cares about it and is just so rich that they don’t know what to do with their money isn’t irritating. And it is not a money thing, as I have the money to buy something like that if I wanted to.
This type of snake oil salesman stuff on a big public stage like this, making some of the biggest sales in hobby history look like this and be discussed like this, makes us all look bad and worse sends a terrible message to all the young people trying to make money and build a collection. IE that the way to be successful is to act and speak like this. This video is a big part of why this hobby is not taken seriously and why there is so much deserved toxicity towards investors and speculators. It makes us all look like snake oil salesmen, when in reality people like me and many others who have huge collections care deeply about this hobby and routing out all the scams, manipulation and actually believe in the longevity of the hobby enough that we don’t have to shill our products, can talk about the down side and the risk and don’t have to hard sell people who know nothing about the product they are buying.
Perhaps I am being way too harsh, I don’t know these guys and perhaps they don’t have the investing experience to know the risk of investing in high end collectibles like this in fairly new markets that are far from established and falsely believe because they made a lot of money this year that they have access to some sort of crystal ball that the rest of us don’t have. I apologize for the rant but I am so fed up with these types of guys being the voice of the hobby and the huge effect I believe these types of videos have both on the overall reputation of the hobby and on the more impressionable younger collectors and investors in the space.

The case will be worth an incredible meme in five years rather than the quoted $10 million when it is opened for the “first” time. Hopefully they’ll live stream it. Oy vey.

Why should people trust that the dude is able to authenticate sealed cases? Such a bizarre video. It’s difficult enough to authenticate sealed booster boxes, let alone that a generic cardboard box contains authentic sealed booster boxes…
This is the case of 1st ed base eh? Was wondering when it would show up on here. I’ve no opinion one way or the other, I think it’s absolutely wild something I collected as a kid and as an adult for fun would be worth so much. If you don’t know the buyer, check out his IG for sure (@shyne150). He’s got some absolutely monster sports cards in his possession. He was also part of the huge Luka Doncic shield 1/1 RC deal a bit ago. He’s also got a couple of SGC 10 1st ed. Charizards sitting on his IG so he’s been moving into the Pokemon world for a bit now.
My main concern is how they managed to authenticate it without opening the case/boxes? I know Baseball Card Exchange authenticates a lot of sealed product in sports, not sure if it’s the same thing in Pokemon as there’s been some notorious fakes, no? Would be very curious how they managed to do it on this one. It’s not impossible, surely, but yeah, very curious.
Dont BBCE authenticate Sports card wax by opening it and checking the box contents and resealing?

They seem to suggest in the video that BBCE authenticates and grades all the sealed Pokemon packs for PSA. The conversation about it starts around 7:35 in the part 2 video.

Packs were $850 each. Obviously no chance of them being weighed, so I paid the slight premium.
PokeRev has a brilliant business plan. He pays out the ass for a box like that, then turns around and makes $13,000 profit by cracking and selling through his channel, which I assume does quite well generating revenue as well. Every week whatever he is cracking for the next week sells out pretty much immediately. I do wonder how long it is sustainable though, these boxes don’t grow on trees regardless of how much you’re willing to pay for them.

Daaaaamn that’s a lot of dough. For packs like that, I’d honestly prefer them to be weighed so their beautiful art can be preserved on the light packs at least.
Also, only for reference. These unweighed MM packs sold for more than JPN Base heavy packs. Crazy.

But… Skyridge 
I’ve watched him open dozens and dozens of boxes, this is the first and likely last that I’ll pay the premium for just because it is Skyridge. Supporting a creator that I think is an asset to the community also plays into it a bit. No offense to the Leonharts and UnlistedLeafs out there, I just can’t watch their content because it’s too over the top.
The only heavy MM packs out there would cost minimum $300 more with tax/shipping than what I picked this pack up for. With a 50% holo rate I’ll take the chance and eat the loss if I have too.

There’s more than enough supply of boxes for him to do this indefinitely. It’s not as though he’s limited to only cracking boxes from a specific set; he makes similar margins regardless of what he cracks.
The real question is if people will indefinitely be willing to spend a 50% markup on packs simply because they’re opened on camera by PokeRev. Right now, people are manic about Pokemon cards and flush with cash.

I agree with pretty much all that. Rev generally only opens older boxes though. Base, Neo, Eseries, etc… I do wonder about the sustainability of those specific boxes. I would not pay a 50% markup personally, the only reason I bought from this box is because of the rarity, Holo pull rate, and the price really isn’t that far off what these packs are listed for on the open market. I was pretty sure this box was coming at some point and had a price in mind that I wouldn’t go over. Anyone who impulses $850 on a pack without doing a lick of research is probably not going to miss the money anyway lol.
The whole idea of wanting to support a content creator or an artist who is already making well over enough to take care of themselves is kind of ridiculous. Especially when the folks on multi-millionaires and people are like oh yeah I want to support the artist.
