The Bargain Bin

My favourite part of collecting is the thrill of finding a great deal and the market is flush with them right now. What kind of great deals have you found recently?

I’m pretty excited about this Garchomp V, right now it prices in around 50 USD but I managed to pick it up for $37

Picked this one up for 47 dollars, probably the best deal I’m likely to ever make at roughly 30% of market value

I think most of my collection fits in this topic but then everyone would be able to see how cheap I really am.

I recently got 6 sealed Base Set Packs for $600. That was pretty sweet.

Sourcing good deals got nothing to do with being cheap. I’ve got a small budget so I do my best to grow my collection with the limited resources I have. Would love to see your favorite deals you’ve snagged

These 2010 Pikachu World promos are pretty cheap in PSA 10. Even cheaper in PSA 9 or raw. Perfect for a binder.

Right? It’s mongo bonkers.
Believe or not I’m finding a lot of PSA 10s on mercari where sale price = raw cost + grading fees.

One of the only advantages to living in a country nobody knows exists is that you sometimes find auctions that nobody knows exists.

PSA 8 Call of Legends Ho-oh for ~37 USD.

wait wat - How does being in an unpopular country help you find ebay deals?

If the seller doesn’t ship internationally it limits the potential buyer pool. I forgot if this was the case with this auction but people from America/Europe probably aren’t looking at Canada for cards to buy (unless it’s something very desirable).

Not to mention that shipping costs can increase drastically depending on the auction.

To use an example: The Ebay-equivalent site I buy stuff from operates mainly in my local region. The cheapest shipping cost available is roughly $2. To ship even to a neighbouring country costs roughly $12 or more.

There are some ebay auctions from Europe I’ve seen where the shipping cost increases as the bid amount increases. Not sure what shipping option this would be but it can result in a shipping cost in the 3 figures if the item goes for high enough.

In December, while bargain hunting for a Dark Raichu on FB marketplace, I found the card and was able to purchase the sellers collection for $300.

It included a complete shadowless base set, dozens of other 1st edition holos and near complete non-holo sets spanning through gym hero’s,

On the very last page of two stuffed binders was a No Damage Ninetales.
