Learn something new every time I come on here.

That is such a random and obscure fact and I love it so much.
There are two different Feebas in which the background reference Pokémon games. To quote the persons who originally posted them in related threads:
And apparently there are also a lot of Drifloon with places from the video games in the background (maybe a nice fun fact for @queendrifloon
):
Greetz,
Quuador
The castform art rare from surging sparks depicts castform illegally immigrating into the Paldea region. Castform cannot be brought into Scarlet and Violet
Only 29 pokemon can actually fly in real life, and only 14 are true fliers.
and here I am, having only having learned of the silver stamp last year, and now you are telling me, you not only have the silver stamp, but this elusive silvery goldish style? Exhausting. Its already the most rare of the wotc stamps as is! Now I have another white whale to pursue! Thanks for sharing this insanely obscure thing.
This poster shows an entire Unlimited Expedition (E1) Japanese set, though most have never been seen in hand and are thought to not exist.
The rabbit hole keeps getting deeper the further you go!
It’s one of the things I love about this hobby, always more to learn and enjoy.
Something that came to my mind recently.
Arcanine is considered to be a legendary Pokemon (see here:
Thread).
Be it legendary or not it represents or is inspired by a mythical lion figures in chinese culture. There are two different but similar figures one of them is called Qilin (麒麟) and the others are ShiShi (石獅). ShiShi means stone lion . Also here is a good article about this for reference.
This is nothing new so far. But :
That explains why Arcanine got a set dedicated to him or at least putting it on the booster and booster box artwork in simplified chinese “Fearless Terestal” and a exclusive SAR Arcanine EX in simplified chinese. To me at first this felt a bit random why Arcanine got a set and SAR like this.
Thinking about it like that it makes a whole lot of sense now to me.
Love this thread. I think there’s no surprise that a few Gyarados cards are in game references (Shining Gyarados from the Lake of Rage being the obvious). But there is a sleeve that portrays the moment before Lance discovers the hidden Team Rocket base:
Also no Gyarados card features a female Gyarados which have white barbels. The closest we have is the red/white barbels from Base set:
Fun fact, we do have a female Magikarp with white barbels in the Base Set (and possible also Detective Pikachu set, although somewhat debatable):
Every other Magikarp has yellow barbels, and are therefore male.
Greetz,
Quuador
And while being on the topic of gender differences in artworks, some quotes from my National Index including all Forms & Shiny Pokémon (W.I.P. - disbanded) thread:
And to also include the official Gender differences (note, I didn’t count Nidoran, because female/male have two different numbers in their National Index):
Greetz,
Quuador
Ah yes, this is how I tell who is a woman in real life too
@Quuador dropping knowledge bombs all over the place. This is exactly what I was hoping this thread would turn into!
In official artwork, Slowpoke is sometimes depicted with pink eyelids, and sometimes depicted with closed pupils.
I believe the only logical explanation is that Slowpoke has a Nictitating Membrane in addition to outer eyelids.
In fact, in Pokémon Card Trainers Magazine, they used E1 Unlimited cards … e-Cards that were never seen physically in that variant.
For example, in Volume 15, they used Unlimited card images.

In TV commercials they also used E1 Unlimited card images.
It seems that they used Unlimited variants as reference images …
Makes me think that they actually planned to release this expansion in Unlimited variant. However, it was cancelled for unknown reasons … This is just a personal hypothesis …
