I know its very late notice [only just found out about this half hour ago myself]. Target Australia was having a buy one, second one half price on Pokemon related things. Went down to my local store and picked up 18 Mythical Mew collection boxes
Most stores close at 7pm according to there website, so might be worth ringing your local store if anyone sees this in time.
GOD DAMMIT. how much are they selling each box for to begin with? I would of at least gone down for a look. Although i can’t say ive seen a ton of pokemon stuff at my local apart for games…
I’m so confused by all these boxes. Modern pokemon card collecting is too much for me. Seems like there’s a new set every month, and why are people going crazy for these boxes?
Sorry to hijack the thread but it would be awesome if someone could explain what these are to me…
There is a new main set every 3 months, in both Japanese and in English. When they release a set there are usually anywhere between 2 and 3 peripheral releases related to the set (Elite Trainer Box, EX Box etc).
This Generations set is separate to any of the main sets. It’s the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon so they have released a ‘Generations’ set that is going to be available all throughout the year through the ‘Mythical Pokemon’ boxes. There is 1 released each month from February through to December with a different Mythical Legendary featured on each one. So 11 in total.
The cards at the front are plentiful, it’s the boosters inside that have the value.
These boosters can’t be bought in booster boxes where, typically, they would cost around $4AU ea. Instead they are 2 in a box that costs $25 making them significantly more expensive. To make matters worse, these boxes are fairly limited.
TPCI is over printing the shit out of Generations. I went hard at the beginning. 62 Mew Boxes, 25 Celebi Boxes, 16 Charizard Boxes, and only 8 Jirachi Boxes. Because singles are so cheap it makes more sense to buy a few of them and then pick up singles. Or keep them Sealed for the future if you want…
