Submitting to PSA for Reholder- Crack above the card

Hey guys,

First time submitting a card to PSA for a reholder, and the slab has a small crack on the back left corner on top of the card.

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience with this.

  1. Does PSA always re grade the card with a small crack above the card?
  2. Do they re grade the whole card, or just the part affected by the crack?
  3. Has anyone ever had a card lose a grade or 2 in this situation?
  4. Has anyone had this situation where it didn’t affect the grade?

I can’t see any obvious damage

Thanks for the help!

This Lugia has certainly been through a fair bit in it’s time, it will look great in a new lighthouse case.

PSA typically would reholder the card with the same grade, as long as the crack isn’t over the card itself. However, I would say it’s a more grey area and is at the discretion of who handles it that day. Note it says, ‘near the item’ so it’s not set in stone what that means. There’s always a risk unfortunately.

Quote from the PSA website
Please note: All items will be automatically reholdered UNLESS (1) the sonic weld on the PSA case shows signs of tampering or (2) the PSA case is fractured over the item itself. If the case is fractured over/near the item, it will be examined raw to ensure it has not sustained damage and that the original grade is still valid.”
