As a parent I could see this happening on occasion. For instance my kid knows my phone code. He will sometimes call his grandparents or friends (don’t need a land line anymore). I trust him and he has never bought anything before. Yet, it could happen. With that said, if the item wasn’t too expensive I would probably still honor the deal, (he would not get it however). I doubt it would happen twice however.
In today’s Amazon business model of lower overhead, no store front and while reaching far more potential customers that can buy at the press of a button…mistakes will happen.
You can’t force a guy to send you a card when they cancel the order and reprice it. Why could you force a bidder to pay a 50% restocking fee for an honest mistake.
Block the person and move on.
eBay should not charge for this however. This is part of the risk of their business they need to own.
Poor kids getting all of the blame, shame their “parents” don’t want to be responsible for their own actions. A tier thread though, wonder what other crazy excuses some people come up with in regards to this.
Quick preemptive question, does anyone know if selling-promotions like “3$ max. eBay fee on items listed Fr. - Mon.” still apply when someone buys & cancels their purchase after the promotion is over and you click “relist after cancellation”? Would suck having to wait till the next one, since those promotions can potentially make a huge difference on higher value items.

Hey man sorry about that my nephew got my phone and he offered something I was looking at. Sorry but not interested in the product you are selling.
This is a new one lol.
Did he have some unexpected financial issues? Did he find a better price? Did he realize he didn’t want it after all? Idk and idc, he was forward, genuine, apologetic, and as honest as he needed to be. That’s all it takes.
Ebay fees refunded, but if they paid then cancelled I believe you still get the PayPal transaction fee charged, (which i think is like 30 cents?) to you unfortunately. I haven’t had one of those in awhile, but I think this was implemented a year or two ago.
I mean sure, if cancel for stock availability error (I.e. you forgot you already sold that card) then that makes sense. But it’s not that difficult to communicate to PayPal that if the buyer elects to cancel, they should shoulder fee.
