Smpratte Waifu’s rant

I don’t mean to be harsh. Everyone has a right to their own fantasy.

If waifu isn’t underage girls, someone please correct me. I would never be this honest if it wasn’t,

Pokemon is def. tame. Waifu is much broader.

What do you mean by this?

I was responding to this:

@ddk

I don’t think we’re kink-shaming here, it’s more about fetishizing underage characters. If these characters were of age, it would still be cringe in my opinion, but not necessarily wrong or deplorable.

So are women who collect full art trainers also then perverts? Or is there just an erected sense of gatekeeping all of a sudden of what can-and-cannot be enjoyed in the hobby?

It’s not about gender, it’s about the reason for why you collect Waifus. If you collect them because you enjoy the character and have fond memories of watching the anime or playing the game, that’s awesome.

Anyone who collects underage trainer cards for the purpose of sexualizing them is deplorable, regardless of gender.

No one said that all people who collect FA trainers are perverts.

No one said that FA trainers cannot be enjoyed in the hobby.

and it will surely be textured

Might be the first time a no texture error card would worth less than the regular textured card.

Right. This is exactly my point: our community doesn’t kink-shame others for having fantasies in their private life. I am not a furry, I personally find that subculture hella odd, but I have no issue with people that are a part of it so long as they’re decent about it (which many of them are).

However, what if we started insinuating that anyone who was a furry partook in bestiality and animal abuse? Even if there are deplorable individuals engaging in horrendous and illegal behavior, it shouldn’t be used to generalize a community as a whole.

Back to the topic about waifu cards and collecting them, I feel some people here are immediately jumping to the worst-case scenario. Are there sickos who get a rise out of buying cards of underage female characters? For sure. Does this speak to a greater societal problem related to the normalization of sexualizing women and minors. Sadly, yes. But again, a distinction needs to be made on a case-by-case basis.

I know people in this thread are well-intentioned because they feel strongly for this issue on a moral level or are upset at the absurdity of waifu card prices, but some of the rhetoric still bothers me. Not saying we’re at this point, but it can become a slippery slope where people are afraid to voice dissenting opinions on this topic or share purchases of FA female trainers because they don’t want to be labelled as a pervert or pedophile.

I just wish someone would even buy the PSA 9 and 10 trainers I graded. Like I said I definitely regret it. I get like zero interest in them. Or people want to offer like $13 shipped knowing it’s less than grading fee and shipping isn’t free

Great topic lol, now I really wanna watch the video :frowning:

Perhaps I am misunderstanding you here, but a kink for dressing up in a furry suit is not the same thing as having a kink for cartoon underage girls on a card. The former is just abnormal. The latter is…

I fully understand everything else you are saying, and I do think it is important to make the distinction that not everyone who collects FA trainers is a perv (and to be fair, no one ever made that blanket statement to begin with).

But the furry comparison is apples to oranges (assuming I was understanding you correctly, of course).

I chose the furry comparison because we do accept people here who are into that subculture. Nobody here is insinuating furry = you engage in bestiality, yet, why is it when the topic of waifu cards is brought up people tend to jump to the conclusion that collecting waifu = kink for underage girl?

I know nobody is directly saying everyone who collects FA female trainers is a perv, but a negative sentiment towards these types of collectors is certainly prevalent enough in this thread. It’s weird because I agree with the arguments about why waifu cards are problematic, yet can’t help but feel bothered by some of the rhetoric.

I get to experience the joys of persecution without the thrill of actually being a degenerate

As the world’s most preeminent lopunny collector I can relate to the waifu crowd with exception to the 100xing of my collection value

What exactly are you referring to? I think overall hobbyists are more than understanding of waifu collectors. If the general public knew what Waifu actually meant, majority of people would just be like, “yeah thats creepy”, and they wouldn’t be wrong. Waifu collecting has a lot of toxic elements baked in that are just weird for most functional adults. Imagine explaining the nuance of collecting waifus at the work place. Its easy to say charizard is like collecting a michael jordan card. Its tough to say, a weiss card of a 13 year old girl in a mini skirt is like collecting a michael jordan card.
