While I understand why these are valuable as a limited item, it still boggles my mind the price they are commanding. Just considering the opportunity cost within the hobby, there’s a lot of arguably safer (e.g. older) purchases you can make even from an investment standpoint with the same amount of money. But I suppose if the item is in your niche, you pretty much have no option but to play ball.
I collected XY era Full Arts and EXs and was okay with skipping the Rocket case even at preorder pricing. ~250 USD for two modern cards just seems absurd. Will these age any better than other cards in our era simply because they were limited? Cause the rest of the stuff is looking pretty bleak. Who knows though… Maybe 10 years down the line when its an ultra desirable vintage product I’ll seem even more silly than I do now.
It is mainly to do with the lack of quality releases in the the modern day releases.
This release was by far the best modern era product and yet it is super limited. The combination just hit an unexpected home run.
Like all higher priced jumped items not many saw it coming.
For those who think of it as a niche item really don’t represent the majority. I don’t know a single collector that wouldn’t jump at the chance of having one of these in their collection. For those who have one that is truly the only way you can appreciate how stunning these are. I’ve got sealed wotc boxes in my collection but the attache case is close to favourite item that I own.
