Skyridge Houndoom or Aquapolis Houndoom?

Aquapolis for sure. The Skyridge one looks like one of those Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark illustrations.

I much prefer to Aquapolis Houndoom.

On a vaguely related note, Houndour and Houndoom have some great cards. The Neo Revelation Houndour is one of my favorite cards ever. The artwork reminds me of Where the Wild Things Are.

In defense of Skyridge, I love the color use/blend/pallete of the art. Houndoom is, doom. Soo have it either way, I think Aqua, Sky and all the dooms are cool.

Look at that unconventional subtle colouring, a different type to it’s evolution card (probably PokĆ©mon’s first time), aquiring an ordinary basic mon contrary to it’s norm rarity to the majority. The tasteful thickness of habitat blendng minimal expressions featured. *Focus intensifies as the card turns. Oh my Outer Gods. The cosmos foil even has a watermark metaphysical awashed over the foreground foliage and through the sun or moon (which one is it?).

Wow i never thought about that.

Ah that’s my favourite book! It would be cool if someone did a copy of the scream promos with some pokemon in the same poses from the book likeee

Thats interesting bringing up Munch since both Aya Kusube’s Houndour and Maurice Sendak appear heavily from another equally brilliant Norge artist at the time, Theodor Kittelsen, whose work perhaps lead the current interpretation of Trolls. Always wanted to see an Abomasnow (and now Coalossal) in this way.

Early Mina Nakai’s traditional and Sowsow, the recent artist everyone loved last gen have styles sprung to mind. Thank you in helping me appreciate the former and latter two more closer!
