I’ve got a Jumpluff from Neo Genesis with prominent holo bleed, I’ve personally seen a few Neo Genesis Lugia’s and a few Team Rocket Dark Blastoises with the same bleed
Wow, i guess its possible for every card to have it, technically. My xy-promo Giovanni had it, too. Its cool to see the different types of bleed, too. Whether its the cosmos sparkles or an actual bleed of the holo ink from the picture box, its sick
Am I the only person who really doesn’t see these full holo cards as errors? They are that common I don’t think anyone should even bother calling them an error, The are a gimmick to me nothing more.
What they are is a case of a slightly thinner printing layer above the holo. Every man and their dog wants any small variation to a perfect card to be an error these days.
An error is an aspect to a card that was unintended from manufacturing; so by definition, its still an error lol. If a card that is printed off centered, which happens more often than not, can be considered an error when it reaches varying parameters, how can holo bleeds not be considered errors? Not following the logic here. Even an ink blotch can be considered an error, so i dont see the reasoning, personally.
IT is a stretch imo. Certain errors are actual errors and not printing defects. Under your logic ANY variation from an original perfectly printed card is an error, and that is just not the case. Base set has multiple color variations for say, an unlimited Charizard. Is it an error if its more purple than black? Ink levels change and cause these lighter layers on sheets. PERSONALLY I deem errors as something much more egregious than a thin layer of ink. Cool looking cards, but not an error IMO.
You don’t see the logic in not labelling every card that isn’t printed with absolute perfection as an error? These “Holo bleeds” or as they should be called, thin ink prints, have been happening since the very beginning of the TCG.
If you think it’s taken them over 20 years to correct an exceptionally minor printing defect then I don’t know what to say sorry.
Errors to me are accidents by oversight. A fighting symbol that’s been rotated 90 degrees. A fire symbol that’s instead a fighting symbol. Writing length twice instead of length and weight. Completely missing words like stage. The wrong Pokemon in the picture of an evolution stage.
Those are all legitimate errors, not a printer than has printed the top layer of a card slightly thinner than some others.
I can see the point you guys are making, but by definition, yes. Any variation against manufactured standards should be under the label ‘error’. A misprint is more accurate in this case, but a misprint and error are the same based on the logic of the definition, so that would just be a circular argument. I guess misprint is a better term for majority of what people call errors, but i think you guys are downplaying holo bleeds a bit. No need to steal thunder from other’s posts, though. If they all wanna call them errors, theyre technically not wrong. Personally, i find them way more cool than a sideways symbol or off centered card.
I was saying off center to an extent that people label them as OC or MC, ya know? People categorize these as errors, and when they are egregious enough, then i would too. And the definitions im referring to are the literal definitions, not ones that are being used to label their cards as such. Just because an ‘error’ is common doesnt make it less of an error. All these labels and names people are using are still under the category of ‘errors’, so the whole argument is, as i said earlier, circular.
Regardless of what anybody thinks they may be how bout we get to posting some more pics of cool cards for everybodys enjoyment! Let’s get back to the show
