Thought I’d share my favorite WotC Scyther and Scizor errors I’ve collected so far.
Square Cut Jungle Scyther
I bought this card off a friend of mine back in January of 2022, alongside some other square cut Jungle holos. They came from a collector in Belgium who claimed to have won them as a tournament prize at Gen Con 2003. I keep it in my binder with my other square cuts.
Insufficient Yellow Ink (Obstruction) Jungle Scyther
This was a lucky eBay find of mine last year. A very cool obstruction error on the yellow ink layer, leaving spots of cyan over the left side of the card. Looks very cool in the holo too.
Additional Border Ink Jungle Scyther
I’m a huge fan of ‘gold border’ errors, which I’ve only seen on shadowless cards outside of the base unlimited Machamps out there. This Scyther is the only Jungle holo I’ve seen with a similar ink error on the border like this. I picked it up last year from another Scyther collector.
Cyan-Saturated Jungle Scyther
This one didn’t receive an error label with CGC, but it’s the bluest Scyther I’ve seen. The card has much more Cyan than normal, giving it a much darker green appearance. I picked it up from another error collector last year. I included a normal copy on the left for comparison.
Additional Yellow Ink ‘Screen Holo’ Jungle Scyther
Screen holos are a rare error I’ve seen on Base and Jungle holos, a name coming from the screen-like appearance of the vertical yellow lines over the front. This is the strongest example I’ve seen for Scyther. Found it on eBay mid 2022.
Holo Shift Jungle Scyther
A must have for me when I saw it. Not the largest Scyther shift I’ve seen, but thrilled to own it regardless. Picked it up from another error collector mid 2022.
Square Cut Neo Discovery Scizor
Cool to see this one graded; bought it through eBay in late 2021. I’ve had a few square cuts from Neo Dsicovery, but have only held on to this one.
Additional White Ink Neo Discovery Scizor
I’ve seen several different examples of this error on Discovery Scizor, and this one is one of the best. Very cool to contrast this with some of my insufficient white ink copies. Picked it up from another error collector in late 2022.
Insufficient White Ink Neo Discovery Scizor
I’ve owned 3 different unlimited copies of this error on Discovery Scizor. This one is the first I found, and is the strongest I know of. The low white in the character art gives a similar effect to the Neo Revelation double holos, with a bleed effect over the eyes and claw marks.
Insufficient White Ink Neo Discovery Scizor 1st Ed.
It took over a year of searching to track down a 1st edition copy of this error, and a mint one to boot. While the error is as strong as my unlimited copy, the condition is wonderful. Picked this up through eBay in late 2022.
Additional Yellow Ink German Neo Destiny Dark Scizor
I’ve seen a couple of examples of this yellow ink error on German Neo Destiny holos. When this Dunkles Scherox popped up I jumped at the opportunity. Neo Destiny errors are tough as nails to find, so I’m thrilled to own this one. Picked it up through Instagram just last month.
Holo Shift Neo Destiny Dark Scizor
Ending on a strong note. My first holo shift, and still my favorite to this day. My favorite card from Neo Destiny, and one of the only English shifts to surface from that set so far. Found it on eBay in late 2021.
